    Hi,

For XPe based Thin Client, when we push our customized image (which we self created) to a device using WDM or WSI, after reflashing an image computer name remains same. It is possible that, computer name can be its own device MAC Address automatically for all the XPe based Thin Client.

    Cheers,
    Enam

    Hi Enam,

All Wyse XPe images will automatically create a name that is the OS and the MAC address put together like this:

    XPE008064FFFFFF

When ever you image a client on first boot it will plug and play the hardware and change its name with no intervention. If your computers are not doing this by its self there is a problem with your master image. If you manually set a name in the master image you also will have removed this feature. You may have to re-create the image to get this going again,

    Cheers,
    -TT

Are you pushing the image to devices that are already deployed or already have a computer name other than the auto created XP + MAC standard? If this is the case Wyse’s imaging software will keep the current name for that client and put it back in the new image.
