Hello, I just received my Xenith 2 evaluation unit and while I’ve been trying to reach Wyse for additional information on how to setup the Flash redirection on the unit, I haven’t had much success.
I reviewed the most recent administration guide they provide, INI file, etc, but nothing indicates how or where to configure the Flash codec file as indicated on multiple videos and on their product guide. Per the video from Synergy, they advised it’d be a 4mb file downloaded from the FTP server at the time of boot, but I cannot find a single shred of details on wyse.com about it.
I am waiting for my regions Wyse rep to contact me regarding the evaluation unit, but in the meantime I was hoping someone had an idea on how to configure this as I’m looking to purchase more of these for a client within the next 2 weeks.
Just a quick tidbit about my setup, I’m currently using WDM and issuing INI files through the FTP server. I have T10’s, R10’s and V10’s deployed out for various workstation types (serial, dual monitors, etc, all ThinOS), but I’m looking at this model for the HDX Flash redirection (which is supposed to be the selling point of it…).
Thanks.
PS, thank you ConfGen for creating a program that has saved my butt more times than I can count thus far :).
November 16, 2012 at 4:23 pm #23015Glad my tool save you so much time. Unfortunately I haven’t seen a donation from you 🙁
Xenith is not supporting flash redirection at all. This would require a local flash player which is simply currently not available. I know Wyse is working on this with Adobe but no ETA.
I have posted a document in the product section for WTOS. This explains how to configure the client and server to get the best HDX Flash experience.
I guess this should help here.CG

I’ll have to remedy that!
Strange, on all the promotional items, in a video seen here (http://www.brianmadden.com/blogs/morevideos/archive/2012/05/17/citrix-synergy-2012-wyse-shows-off-xenith-2-talks-stratus.aspx) and even on the product page (http://wyse.com/products/cloud-clients/zero-clients/Xenith-2), they state “Xenith 2 delivers outstanding performance based on its system-on-chip (SoC) design optimized with its Dell Wyse Zero architecture, and a built-in media processor delivers smooth multimedia, bi-directional audio and Flash playback.”.
The video talks about a flash codec file that is transfered on boot to the Xenith 2 that allows local flash redirection. Even the Wyse rep said it supports full flash redirection when I ordered the eval, of course they don’t seem to have documentation again to support it (just like the original Xenith HDX fiasco).

The one about configuring HDX Flash on a WTOS and Xenith (on the front page)?
I have and am currently testing with a client, but its still not what they are expecting I’m afraid.
I also spoke to my Wyse rep finally, they advised that what I posted WAS the intention, but they have yet to figure out the full codec compression delivery method, so the SoC has a better video codec but not a full Flash rendering codec :.
January 23, 2013 at 1:31 am #23343Hi,
ConfGen, I agree you have been immensely helpful with assisting with my Wyse configs so I’ve just made a donation. Small I know but a token of my gratitude.
I have implemented the recommended XenApp 6.5 settings for Flash you published and I think it has made some viewing improvements.
Just wondering if you have heard anything though your channels regarding availability of local flash rendering on the Wyse Xenith 2?
Thanks.
January 24, 2013 at 5:46 pm #23354Thanks for the donation. Really appreciate it.
I have heard that Wyse is working on a full Flash redirection but currently there is nothing in the pipe. I doubt we will see this during this year.
