I just discovered an extremly annoying effect when I configured our DHCP server for delivering IP addresses and hostnames to our new X50m mobile thin clients (firmware 11.1.052):
If I set “Terminal Name” to “Contact DHCP server” in the device settings of my X50m and boot the device, it gets its IP address and hostname from the DHCP server, but the hostname is set in double quotes! As this hostname is the ICA client name, this behaviour destroys all our mechanisms which rely on the client name.
Our V50LE models do not show this behaviour. Is anyone else able to reproduce this behaviour with any mobile device?
Yes, I configure the DHCP server to deliver hostnames, I configure the device to use them (as written above) and the hostname will be set wrongly (= with surrounding double quotes) on the device. This wrong hostname will be shown everywhere (in the WDM console, in the Citrix console, in the CLIENTNAME environment variable inside the Citrix session, in /etc/hosts, on the SSH prompt, …), so issue probably emerges while interpreting the DHCP reply.
Is the DHCP reply stored somewhere in the Linux filesystem (our old Neoware devices do this which has been quite handy for debugging DHCP issues)?
