During the installation, we received a FTP verification error.
I installed IIS, FTP, MSDE for WDM 4.5.1, but I cannot install WDM at all.

6. November 2007 at 1:37 #106706. November 2007 at 8:42 #10675Hi coffeeguy415,
two things to try.
– open windowssystem32driversetcservices and find 21 FTP line. Cut this line and paste it to the end of the file. Save and try installing WDM now.
– Check whether the local account “Rapport” is active, has a password of “r@p8p0r+”, password hasn’t expired and is able to log in to the FTP server with read/write rights.Cheers
ConfGen7. November 2007 at 1:18 #10687ConfGen, Jedi master,
1. Can you tell me what I should include in the service file line 21?
This is what I have on line 20, 21, and 22.
chargen 19/tcp ttytst source #Character generator
chargen 19/udp ttytst source #Character generator
ftp-data 20/tcp #FTP, data2. How do I check Rapport is one of the user?
I am very new to the thin client, and I really appreciate you help.
7. November 2007 at 16:43 #10694Hi,
look for this line:
ftp 21/tcp #FTP. control
and move it to the end of the file.2. Start-Programs-Administrative Tools-Computer Management-Local Users and Groups-Users
😉Cheers
ConfGen9. April 2008 at 18:33 #12587Hi,
I am a newbie to the world of Wyse, but I have a W2K3 server running IIS, FTP, and MSDN. During the install of WDM 4.5.3, I am still getting the “FTP Verification…” message.
I can log on using commandline FTP as well as IE browsing FTP. I log in as rapport with the proper password, and I can see my dummy wnos.ini file, and it is read only. When I walk my way through the WDM installer, it asks me:
1 – Let WDM Configure my IIS FTP server
2 – Use an existing FTP server account (my locally created rapport account). I choose 2, and provide it the same User and Password that I have created and successfully used, but I still get the error. My ” ftp 21/tcp #FTP. control ” is in its proper place.
I have contacted Wyse support on this, and the agent said that they would ‘escalate’ the issue.
Any help here guys? Anything I am missing? 🙁
10. April 2008 at 16:43 #12608Hi,
you’ve said that the FTP folder is read-only. You need read-write access.
Have you also tried to remove the manually added Rapport user and let WDM add it during the install?

25. June 2008 at 15:36 #13345Hi,
This is working (sorry for the delay in my reply). Do I need to have write access to the ftp? I work in an environment where read only ftp is a must.
25. June 2008 at 17:32 #13351yes you do need read/write access as if you are pulling configs/images or registering new packages these are written in the FTP server dir. This way you need write access, of course.
