Hi Guys,
Please could anyone advise me on the following:
I have a Wyse VX0 V10L Thin Client, is it possible to turn this into a NAS Box, Media Server or just a client with Web Browsing Capability.
I’m a complete Newbie with these so detailed information would be extremely helpful and appreciated.Cheers…
20. November 2011 at 0:45 #21386Hi Guys,
After doing a bit more research, I’ve read that some people have managed to get distributions of Linux installed from their USB Pen Drives on Wyse V10l Thin Clients.
I’ve managed to get Puppy Linux on my USB Pen Drive but can’t seem to get it boot and load on the Thin Client. I thought it may be the Boot file, however booting to Puppy does work on a full PC using my Pen Drive.
Is there something else specifically I need to do for the Thin Client for it to recognise this distribution?Any advice would be appreciated….
Cheers

Check the BIOS for the correct bootorder.CG
22. November 2011 at 16:41 #21395Hi,
The BIOS settings on the Thin Client are correct, I’ve tried to boot from USB Zip and USB FDD settings. The USB stick has been set to FAT32 and works in other PC’s. All I get from the Thin Client is Check or Replace System Disk, something along these lines.
Do think its worth trying to get hold of a USB CD Drive?Cheers…

24. November 2011 at 13:25 #21411The only options I had in the BIOS were USB FDD, USB ZIP and USB CD ROM, apart from the USB CD ROM, I’ve tried them all. I did see that the stick was being recognised by the BIOS. However I’m still getting No System Disk. I purchased a USB CDROM Drive yesterday so at some stage this week I will give it a go. I’ll post back and let you know.
Cheers…27. November 2011 at 20:32 #21419I’ve managed to boot ok from the USB CD ROM, must have been an issue with my USB Stick or something.
11. May 2012 at 0:16 #22330I recall seeing a thread about this …. my experience has been that only Sandisk USB sticks are bootable as I haven’t identified any others that work. FWIW I’ve used PuppyLinux on a V90 for years.
14. August 2012 at 21:26 #22677I’m putting my two cents in, because I think it helps the thread. I have about 200 thin clients (C90LE7 & C90LE) and have successfully booted using a Sandisk USB Cruzer (8GB) on both types. I never ran into problems.
