Originally our business rolled out Neoware thin clients, but due to product availability etc swapped to Wyse terminals. We have around a 50 / 50 split on terminals that are configured for citrix using pnagent and the remaining using 5250 emulation.
I have tried both the Pericom / TEC clients for 5250 and both continually lock up randomly for periods of upto 5 minutes plus. My only solution so far has been to publish IBM’s 5250 emulator as an app over citrix and have users connect this way, but this is not a preferred solution obviously as it chews up my citrix licences and additional cost on the IBM software itself.
Anyone experienced a similar issue? we have tried to wyse helpdesk and they are of no assistance, they recommended to update the firmware, which we did with no chance basically after that they were out of ideas.
A few questions, I assume the Neoware clients did not have this behavior? Its strange because you would think the Wyse boxes with the Perricom software would be the same
When you upgraded the CE device what version (build) of TEC was on the unit?
I have seen this as one site and what we did was us the capture utility on the TEC menu to create a debug log. This was then sent to support and they fixed the issue with a new build. Maybe you could contact support again and ask them to open a call with the capture files?
starting the tracelog now, once we have the issue pop up again (our main issue is that it is random) ill call back to support and provide them with all the details.
Thanks for the heads up.
Will post any updates.
