My 3040 with ThinOS is running firmware 8.5.024.
If upon bootup, I press CTRL-ESC, I’m presented with a logon screen from which I can choose Admin mode. However, once in Admin mode, except for an option to logoff Admin mode, I see no differences than when not in Admin mode. In particular, I’m looking for the option to generate AES encrypted values.
In addition, based on other topics posted here, I’ve attempted to use WNOS.INI settings to specify the admin mode user & password (encrypted & non-encrypted), however, I’ve never been able to logon successfully.
Questions:
– on my 3040, what extra features should I have when using Admin mode?
– where can I see the extra features?
– where can I find the tool for generating AES encrypted values? Thanks!

August 18, 2019 at 3:14 pm #50606With Privilege=high (default) you are in Admin Mode already.
No more features after enabling AdminMode along.
The tool is no longer available. Use WMS and you get the AES encryption back.
If you still want to use wnos.ini, send me a mail with your password and I can generate the needed parameter for you. After that you can use the AES encryption yourself to encrypt your passwords.CG

I used ConfGen to configure the WNOS.INI file, however, there’s something very important to know: in order to get the new AdminMode password to be recognized, you should reset the WYSE back to factory defaults. If you do not reset the WYSE, you may have issues with the AdminMode logon. Hopefully this will save someone else lots of time!
Even the encrypted VNC password is working!
