I purchased 5 WYSE 3125SE units online, and they came customized for a Citrix connection with the ‘G’ key and administrator access disabled.
I’m new to Thin clients, and this is for a small office for TS connections.
I’ve read everything, was able to get netxfer to run, and I keep uploading bootp.bin, but after 3 minutes on the client, I get ‘Upload failed” with (00). It sees the server, starts uploading, and then fails.
This occurs with each and every firmware version at the bottom of the page for the link listed here:
How can I reset these 5 terminals. I do have a sixth from another source which works fine. The sticker on these indicate Winterm CE Net 4.1; I can’t figure this out. I tried using rapport, but its not exactly easy for a newbie to run.
My firewall is disabled, my patch cable works….. but what am I doing wrong?????
Thank you for any help you might be able to provide!!!
Thanks!4. January 2009 at 14:35 #14777
Can you image the 6th unit via NetXfer successfully?

i haven’t tried; it was unlocked (as in brand new), and I don’t want to chance messing it up.
I haven’t tried imaging any of the other units; is there a way to pull the image off the working and unlocked unit and over write the rest?
will conf-gen allow one to pull a whole image and push the image?
i know the unit sees the transfer, but what happens on the laptop is that it starts scrolling starting upload upload finished and then repeating it multiple times until the WYSE says it failed…4. January 2009 at 14:50 #14783
Do you have the old MS Java installed on your laptop?
ConfGen cannot help you here. WDM (aka Rapport) can help.
You could try to get the units in WDM and push the CE image via PXE to the client. To get the 3125 boot via PXE you have to change the boot order. Press “del” during boottime and enter “Fireport” as BIOS password.

yes, I installed it from here. Thank you!
thats guys… i just grabbed another unit, and it said successful and its currently in the process of initializing IDE and NAND flash data..
question: is there a way to tell which image I should be using? does it matter? (ie CE 4 vs 5 vs 3)? How can I tell how much memory is in each one?
I assume the flashing takes a few minutes… keeping my fingers crossed….
boy its five minutes into it, and I’m hoping…4. January 2009 at 15:14 #14786

on #3 of 5.
I suspect one.4. January 2009 at 17:22 #14790
CG which version Rapport/WDM should I use??4. January 2009 at 19:43 #14791
4 machines flashed unevenfully.
the fifth is still a problem; I manage to have it download, then it:
Init IDE interface
Init NAND flash data
Check file system
Parsing download file header
Checking security key
Erasing Nand flash 1
Deleting runtime files
ERROR TFTP server timeout….
I also tried DEL on boot, but it won’t go to bios at all, or F2… constant or intermittent; using OEM WYSE legacy mouse and keyboard…..
Thanks for all your assistance in the meantime!!!4. January 2009 at 19:51 #14792
attempted reboot, and now a cannot find a vild OS in flash device; use netxfer to download new software..
so i will try AGAIN…4. January 2009 at 20:02 #14793
ok so the FTP still fails…
if I switch to a different image, then retry the image that worked for the other 4 (they appear to be the same setup/lot) but I can’t get anywhere.
I will have to set up a machine to run Rapport/WDM to do this — any other information that I might need? Should I set up an XP box or a Server 2003 box?
Thanks again for helping me get this far!!

XP with any version of WDM should work.
