I screwed up my S50 and try to resolve this by PXE boot and installing the firmware again.

PXE works, so I installed Turbo DHCP and WSI and followed the instructions.

When I boot the S50 now lots of information scrolls over the screen, but it end up with a reboot.

On the screen of WSI in says the FAILURE:Firmware in not compatible

    More information:
    Evaluating: ‘sym/NO’to ‘sym/YES’
    Evaluating: ‘sym/YES’to ‘sym/YES’
    Evaluating: ‘sym/YES’to ‘sym/YES’
    Evaluating: ‘sym/NO’to ‘sym/YES’
    Evaluating: ‘ftp//anonymous:xxxx@10.9.2.250/Rapport/Tools/sa/5S50/push.k’to ‘stream/sec/test’
    Evaluating: ‘sym/YES’to ‘sym/YES’

Anyone who can help me out here ? What I need to do is get my firmware back in the S50, because it will not boot on the current corrupt one.

What is the complete original name of the firmware you have used within WSI?

This issue is solved. It turned out there were two versions of this Wyse S50 with different hardware and because of that needed different ways of upgrading

Within WSI I had to choose for S52 instead of S50. It then worked like a charm…

PS. during this all I even tried to figure out what was wrong by booting up the S50 on my Damn Small Linux USB bootkey. It worked !!! And you can even access the flash that way (and probably change the first splash screen, which I will try now everything works again)
