We are using V10Ls connected to Cybex KVMs.
We were using the Resolution=DDC tag in the monitor field but the KVM doesn’t read that information from the monitor…so now I have 20″ LCDs running at 800×600.
I’d easily hard code a resolution, but we have a variety of monitors ranging from 15″ to 24″ so I need some flexibility here.
Is it possible to support multiple values in the resolution parameter?
Our V10s are configured to power on and connect to a Citrix desktop. We can’t use username.ini style configurations due to the large userbase.
2. July 2008 at 13:49 #13413Hey,
I have no idea if you are able to support multiple resolutions in that field however, could you possibly use the username.ini such as 800X600, 1024X768 etc… just use the resolution= in the .ini?
Likely isn’t the soultion you are looking for, also the users would have to know when to use what resolution username depending on what monitor they are using.
Let me know if you find a better solution,
Morbs
2. July 2008 at 13:55 #13414Thanks for the reply, but we can’t do this. Our pilot group is small, but even 50 usernames.ini would be a bear to manage. We eventually have to scale this out to thousands…
2. July 2008 at 14:17 #13415Hi,
With resolution I would not set any value on this at all for such a large user base. Its possible to lock the terminal down and allow the user to still set the resolution. Its a simple process and I would suggest user training is a better option here,
Cheers,

I have been trying to hide WTOS from the end users, as my organization is very security minded. Our sessions start up automatically and I also use auto reconnect to keep users out of that area.
The notion of having the user tinkering around with WTOS at all is not something that will go over well, but it seems that my options are limited.
2. July 2008 at 18:25 #13417One option you would have is to use Wyse Device Manager Enterprise Edition. This has a function called DDC or Default Device Configuration.
Based on this you can group devices and assign different wnos.ini configuration to them.
This would help you.CG
2. July 2008 at 18:40 #13418Awesome! Just so happens we own WDM Enterprise. Just got it last week, so aside from installation, I haven’t done much with it yet.
Is that in the documentation?
I guess we could inventory our users hardware and group them by monitor type…then have a separate WNOS.ini for each one?
3. July 2008 at 7:47 #13421That’s right. This is how it works.
Find some doc here -> http://www.technicalhelp.de/products/1000/DDC%20for%20WTOS%20on%20Rapport%204.4.1.pdfCG
