I am trying to setup a C90lew with wifi for POC on a mobile cart. The cart is battery powered and has monitoring software which is the main reason that we went with WES (not a fan WTOS is WAYYY better).
I would like to keep from joining the domain but I run into issues if I don’t. I have created a desktop shortcut (“C:Program FilesCitrixICA Clientpnagent.exe” /QLaunch “FARM:APP”) that goes directly to the published desktop but then the domain isn’t correct in the login window. I could create a shortcut to our CAG but not all users are familiar with how to navigate/launch applications. I have toyed with changing the shell but then I wouldn’t be able to monitor the battery health.
I am fully against joining it to the domain but it’s the easiest way to get authentication easier/seamless for the end user. If anybody is aware of a way to simulate the connection process that a thin device goes through (launch ica connection, asks for net credentials, application comes up full screen) I would greatly appreciate it.28. I have discovered the Citrix Desktop Appliance Lock which is a fantastic tool to use if you wish to basically turn a pc into a thin client acting device. Only draw back is that it only works in a domain environment…bummer. So, if anyone has any suggestions to point me in the correct direction I would appreciate it.
20. May 2011 at 17:03 #20519Out setup is a bit more complex than yours because we are using a SSO software, but similar in many aspect if I am reading you correctly.
If your WES is logging in with Wyse ‘user’ account try logging in once by changing the domain manually with the write filter off.
Kind of a shot in the dark, but I had to do something similar.
24. May 2011 at 1:34 #20539I have just started deploying C90LE7’s on a small scale before i ramp up and the best method i have found so far is to not add them to the domain and just use the Citrix Online Plugin which i managed to have the domain auto populate with a registry tweak. A user can select exit which disconnects their session which allows another use to login while the first user can login and reconnect to there session via another thin client.
I am open for suggestions, but am also curious if you have made any further progress. The desktop appliance lock wouldnt work for me, since I have some applications that dont run in XenApp6 (2008R2) so i cant just have a full desktop auto launch and call it a day..
