    Hi.

    I have purchased a couple licenses for WDM, currently I’m investigating the use of S10 clients and figured WDM would be a necessary addition for device managment.

    I’ve brushed through the Admin guide for WDM and I have not noticed many features available for the S10 clients. Am I working with limited hardware here? (s10)

    I really only need the S10 thin clients for basic ICA purposes so I’m thinking WDM is not for me. However, I notice a nice remote control feature…. my other interest would be Automatic firmware deployment, and ‘easily’ managing device configuration files (wnos.ini’s)… Does anyone know if this is a feature with WDM?

    Thank you for your time,

    Nick

    Hi Nick,

    Have a look at the PPT on this site for deploying WTOS and it may answer your questions. Here is a rule of thumb…

    – If you have a simple generic wnos.ini that all devices need you really don’t need WDM. If you just want to view the device and shadow use the free WDM in VMware. This is how 80% deploy WTOS. At a minimum I ALWAYS use the wnos.ini file never the GUI on the terminal.

    – If you have a lot of devices or you need to deploy lots for different configurations based on groups, locations etc Enterprise is for you. The feature is DDC and there is lots of setup information under the WDM downloads section of this site.

    I hope this helps!

    Cheers,
    -TT

    I have a simple environment right now. I wasn’t aware there was a version of WDM that is free?

    So I downloaded the DDC from the site. Instructions looked pretty straight forward however I’m having a problem when trying to create a DDC. Even though I registered the package, whe n I get to step seven, there is nothing in the Qualifying OS image drop down box…

    help?

    Every wyse device includes a license to the workgroup edition of WDM.
    You can download WDM from wyse.com and it’ll come with free 750 seat workgroup license.

    You should confirm whether your key appears as workgroup or enterprise in the licensing node of the WDM GUI.

    WTOS DDC is a great tool, but could be overkill if you are looking for uniformity amongst all your devices using a single wnos.ini.

    In your .rsp file there [Version] section should include at least:
    Number=Name of the package (matches .rsp name)
    Description=Description
    OS=BL (blazer is old name for WTOS)
    ImageSize= (the size of flash, this may vary)
    Catagory=Images

    The OS= and ImageSize= will be used when configuring the DDC.
