    Hi All

I’m now starting to get my head around WDM have found this site very useful and I’ve also received good feedback to my questions.
    Here is my latest question

I’ve finally got both of my Main office’s ( 600 s10’s and Franklins ) talking to WDM but i have had to set the configuration on dhcp slightly different to how Wyse recommend

161 – ip of FTP server
    162 – /
    186 – ip of WDM

I have two dhcp servers on two different site’s and I have had to setup 2 ftp server so they are both local to each office and then one WDM server that everything reports into.

All was working fantastic and i was thinking WDM is the future, but within about 15 minutes i had users complaining of slow logins and hanging Citrix sessions. Im no network guru but i was under the impression that the Wyse terms only see the WDM server at login via dhcp.

After about an hour of moaning – 20+ users i had to turn off WDM and everything settled down.

Any help on this would be great as ive been through the user and admin guides and my event logs aren’t giving away to much information.

    Cheers

    Hi,

That’s really weird, especially the “hanging Citrix sessions”. WDM should only effect the setup of the device and plays not roll after the unit is up and running.

So here is a few things to check on the WDM server under Configuration Manager –

    – Under Preferences Blazer – untick return FTP/ini
    – Under Preferences – SNMP untick the start SNMP option
    – Under Preferences – Device Manager – set the checking time to 1 hour
    – Check the event log on the WDM server – is the hservice free of errors?

Now if the WDM server has issues the login will be slower when the device tries to check into WDM and the service is not running – on the client it pauses for a while at hserver.

None of this explains whey sessions would drop, if you can do a packet capture of the WDM server and see if it putting a lot of data on the wire,

    Cheers,

    Hi,

Thanks for the quick responce, ive turned off DHCP and SNMP all the other settings appear to be OK.

Ill setup WDM on one of my remote subnets and see how we get on.

    Thanks
