Help! I’m new to WDM and I’ve been having loads of trouble. Can anyone help me please? I’m using WDM Version 4.7.2 and it’s installed on Windows Server 2003.

The first problem I get is the following message when I run WDM. I get “MMC Cannot open the file c:program fileswysewdmwysedevicemanager.msc. This maybe because the file does not exist, is not an MMC console, or was created by a later version of MMC.”

The second problem I get is that I cannot uninstall WDM. It keeps exiting out after telling me that “RapportDB must be running to uninstall”. If possible I’d at least like to uninstall WDM so that I can put it back on this, time using the typical options instead of using Custom like the install guide.

You can delete the program fileswyse or wdm folder and registry values under HKLMSWRapport
After that try to deinstall MSDE.
    Then you can reinstall everything.

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I’ve managed to remove WDM and reinstall it back on. Unfortunately I had to use ‘Custom’ Install, not ‘Typical’, this was because I kept getting the following error message “The IIS World Wide Web Service was detected but the physical root of the web server could not be determined.”. To get around this I had to untick the ‘HServer’ component within Custom setup. This then let me install WDM.

I really need to use the ‘HServer’ component to discover devices, etc. Do you know a fix for this. I’ve gone through the latest admin guide and I can’t see anything wrong.

    Many Thanks

You should again remove WDM and additionaly IIS. Then reinstall IIS first and then WDM.
HServer is a critical component and is needed.
