Anyone have a good ballpark figure for hardware specs on remote repositories? We have 15 geographic locations, each with a remote repository, so pretty much each network subnet has a local FTP storage, all systems
When trying to image at our corporate office – I had 16 terminals I needed to reimage – the local repository could only image 2-3 at a time, the rest would connect and start throwing ftp errors.
Our entire building is on GBit Cat-6, and the repository is a Dell GX745 (don’t remember exact specs, less than a year old though), with GBit lan. This was also after-hours, so I was the only traffic on the subnet.
Any ideas or tweaks I can perform to make my repositories more stable?
The Master server is a quad-proc 2003 Dell server, but my remote repositories are XP systems – so that could be causing the ftp errors. I guess I can reduce the number of simultaneous client images. thanks!
