    Hello 🙂

I get the Hserver not running message when starting, which has been already discussed here in the forum.
And WDM gives back the error message that it cannot find the webservice, when i try to discover clients.

I try to call the URL above in the browser of the wdm machine, and it asks me to download a file, which looks binary when opening it.

The Guide also suggests the following:

    2. Verify Anonymous Access is enabled for HTTP
    a. IIS Manager > Web Sites > Directory Security
    i. Enable Anonymous Access
    b. IIS Manager > Web Sites > Rapport HTTP Server >Directory Security
    j. Enable Anonymous Access

In “Websites” i dont even have those Directories like Rapport HTTP server and Directory Security.

So as suggested here in the forum, i should uninstall both WDM and IIS, and then install them again.
But when i try uninstalling WDM it asks me during the process to enter my Login and PW for the WDM Database for MSDE and SQL Express.
Where can i find those? I never been asked about any password when i installed it.

    Any suggestions?

Yup… got that in the meanwhile.
Now its hanging again like before also coz it cannot attach the database. But i reinstalled mssql already too.

Is it really that much complicated to get this to work? WDM i mean…
That PDF that i found that explains how to add the DB manually, partly describes things to do, that 3 of the versions of the common SQL servers dont have (2005, 2008, 05 express).

Did u all also go through this horrible installation process?
Or is that only me where its not properly working? Is it maybe better to wait for a more mature version of this?

Normally the installation is pretty easy, simple and works quite well.
If the DB could not be attached during the setup, it is most likely due to a permission issue.
This could be missing permissions for the DB user or a wrong password.
Maybe you are enforcing some password policy through GPOs and ours does not fit.

Have you installed SQL manually or let WDM setup do that for you?

I know this is a really old post, but I wanted to share new information.  First of all, thanks for the original post as it helped me a few weeks ago when trying to reinstall WDM.

Now, I am back at reinstalling my WDM and I ran into the password issue again.  I came back to this post and tried the ThinMgmt_451 this time and it did not work.  However, I fixed the issue and figured I’d post my fix since I see many people still having password problems with WDM.

I installed SQL Server Management Studio on the server where WDM is installed.  I launched SSMS and logged into the RapportDB as the user I had originally installed WDM with.  From SSMS, I went to logins and I edited the properties of the “sa” user.  All I had to do was give “sa” a new password.  I went back to the WDM setup and entered sa and the new password when prompted, and everything worked.

Hope this helps someone in the future.
