I have acquired five Wyse R90L Thin Client machines using Windows XPembed as the OS.  I wanted to reimage them and downloaded the OS image files and the WDM 4.9.1 as that versions supports the R90L machine.  I may also install a Linux OS on several of the machines – any reccomendations?

I wanted to install this on my Windows 10 Pro machine.  I worked through the first error that the installer prompted and that was it could not find IIS.  So, I configured IIS and made a test webpage on localhost and this is working.

The installer for WDM is now showing an error that it can’t find the root of the webserver.  Where does WDM expect to find the root of the webserver?  I moved the root folder around to different places in hopes to find the right place and I am still not having any luck.

Can this be done on Windows 10?  Thanks

Windows 10 is not even supported for the latest WDM version 5.7.2.
    Use Windows 7 max or better a Windows Server 2008 R2 or 2012 R2 – not 2016.

    Hi ConfGen,

Thanks for your reply!  I could do a virtual box instance of a Windows Server 2008 or 2012 if I can locate the iso image.  I have a vb with 2016, but you indicate that will not work.  I don’t have another machine available.

Perhaps there is another way to make use of getting these R90L machines imaged or to get a Linux version installed on them.  I tried to get them to boot from a USB thumb drive, however that has been locked out by the administrator (from the company that owned them and tossed them out).

Try Fireport as the BIOS password.
Then enable boot from USB and use the USB imaging tool to push WES on it or simply install any Linux.
