I have installed WDM 4.8 on a Windows 2003 server, having followed the install guide download from the wyse website. I installed and configured IIS6 and FTP exactly as instructed.

I have created our subnet – 255.0.0.0 – and if I search for the V50L device on my desk nothing comes up. I originally thought the ridiculous subnet might be the problem but I can’t even add them manually by MAC address.

Strangely WDM finds the S10 device on my desk, but not the V10 on my colleagues desk.

Clearly I am doing something wrong. Can someone please tell me how I am supposed to configure the devices to see the server? I know this can be done using DHCP but I would prefer to do this manually for now.

Can you try to enter the IP address of the WDM server locally at you V50L and/or V10L? Do they checkin then?

HAgent is the WDM client tat resides on the units to communicate with the WDM server.
Depending on the OS you can either see this locally in the Addons (V50L) or remote via WDM. Just click on one unit and then on t “+” sign on the right bottom to get the full client info.

The IP address is correct, and actually I ended up configuring the “Wyse Device Manager” and “Wyse Device Manager Port” DHCP options to role it out. Strangely though, even though I entered port 21 on the DHCP server, all devices seem to pick up port 12594.

As it stands, any S10 device I plug in is picked up straight away by WDM. However, any V10 device, and more importantly (because we have dozens of them!) any V50L device does not show up. If I check Control Panel – Rapport Agent the IP address is correct and the port is the same as the S10 device (that strange 12594).

Regarding the hagent, the WDM 4.8 Installation guide tells me that certain hagents are not compatible with WDM 4.8 and that they must be upgraded. If I can’t connect to them in WDM how do I upgrade them on, for example, a V50L device? I have searched for an tech guide for doing this but I can only see info on how to update the Windows machines.

    Thanks for your reply.

What are the names of your V10L units? Any “-” or “_” in the name? This would be a known issue and units will not check in.

Regarding the V50L. In the release notes I found a passage that mentions, that a V50L will not be discovered on a WDM 4.8 installed on W2k8 R2. But this is not the case for you.

    I would recommend to
    1. remove the DHCP option for WDM port and only keep OT 186
    2. take a network trace of a V50L booting up. You may see any error messages in the WDM checkin.

Thanks. Does it make a difference that this is the free version downloaded from Wyse’s website? It is activated for 120 days or something like that.

The terminal name is still the default “derived from MAC address” and there are no hyphens or underscores. I removed the DHCP port option and rebooted the V50L terminal. In Control Panel – Rapport Agent the correct server is listed but now the port is 80.

I also did a network capture of the terminal booting up, this is what I saw:

Just to let everyone who may be pulling their hair out know that Wyse have acknowledged a bug with WDM 4.8 and are looking to fix it. They were able to replicate the same error as me.

    Confgen cheers for your help

    apmali,
Do you know if they have created a patch for the v50L’s? I’m having the same issue and would love to get this resolved!
    Thank you,

Never seen this with WTOS devices that do not have dash or underscore in the name. This must be something else.
