Hi.
I have an installation of the wyse device manager 4.72 on a Win2k3 server.
I installed it for about 1 month ago. Created an image and pushed it on 60 clients. Every worked like a dream.
Now we are reday to impliment the 60 clients.
I wanted to start up my WDM serveralso. The windows server starts fine, but when i start the Wyse Device Manger nohing happens. I can see in the process list that the mmc.exe is runing, but nothing else happens. I can start other mmc’s.
Anyone how have some tips/ideas?

January 15, 2010 at 5:30 pm #17458Check whether your SQL server is started or that you can connect to it. I had a similar experience when for some reason my SQL Express would not start after a reboot.
January 18, 2010 at 12:41 pm #17466My SQL Server is working fine. It is on the same mashine and i am using then free incl. MSSQL.
I have found the cause of the error. The last thing i did before shutdown off the server was renaming the server from wyse2p til wdm2p.
When i rename the server back to wyse2p everything is working.
Now the question is, what is the procedure to rename the server when WDM is installed.

May 25, 2010 at 11:30 pm #18422Hi, I’ve got same problem. Although my database is in the local MSDE and I have never renamed my server.
It started with a snap-in error so I decided to reboot my server. After that WDM 4.7.2 just doesn’t start. None of the service work too, my terminals can’t find my WDM.
Not much more I can see, can someone shed some light?

May 26, 2010 at 10:23 pm #18432Hi, it’s a fresh install of the WDM 4.7.2 (with MSDE) and with the two latest hotfixes (HF04072025609 and HF04072036209) added after that.
Opening MMC and adding WDM, it tries to connect to the RAPPORTDB and it just hangs.
I noticed that the first hotfix (HF04072025609) didn’t quite install succesfully but I didn’t put too much into it.
May 26, 2010 at 11:56 pm #18433We can now start troubleshooting days and days but if it is a fresh install, why not just reinstall?

May 27, 2010 at 1:04 am #18434Yeah, that might be the only option in this case.
May 27, 2010 at 8:55 am #18435Not the only option but I guess the easiest and quickest one.
