    Hi all,

I’m a newbie to thin client – just got a V30 recently and thought I should probably make sure it’s on the latest firmware before I start to use it in earnest.

After a bit of reading (on here) and downloading from Wyse, I thought I was all set up to do a FTP-Pull update – but I keep getting an error message saying the firmware I have isn’t right for the terminal.

    So, the necessary info:

    V30 VX0 (902095-02L) 64F/128R
    Currently running 5.0 FR2 559
    Bios/bootloader: 1.10/BL9.0

I downloaded 580Wye79_V30.zip from Wyse which is listed under the V30 downloads as 5.0 FR2 580

When I try the upgrade, it connects, tells me it’s about to upgrade but then bombs out with an error.

Looking at my ftp server log I see that it loads the params.ini file, then sends the command to load the .bin file but then seems to close the connection. ???

The actual error message (fyi) is: The new firmware image is not valid for this terminal. Hardware code: 0A060101

Anybody have any ideas? Am I doing something only a newbie would do?

    Thx for any help.

    Hi again,

More info on this – just to be sure I’ve downloaded and tried the firmware images for V30, V30L and S30 with the same results each time.

I know that 2 of these will be the wrong image, but one of them should work right?

I think the problem is the ftp connection being closed by the client – it doesn’t appear to be downloading the file at all.

Here’s an extract from my ftp server log:

Here we see that it retrieved bootstrap212.exe without a problem, although I can’t work out what it’s trying to recieve next (see the filename ??????)

At about this point I see the message ‘about to upgrade firmware…’. I click ‘Start’, and the following happens:

Nov 15 00:26:41 1 Error closing connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.
    Nov 15 00:26:41 1 Connection terminated.

I’ve tried various files / different ftp server on a different machine, different interfaces on this machine etc.

Not sure what to try next….

Well I can certainly second this problem. I have a large number of V30 VX0s that I have been trying to upgrade… I have tried multiple software packages and run into the same error message.

Anyone have any clues on this?

Hmm, interesting. I will have to test this – are you having this issue with the same version of firmware as the original post? (580Wye79_V30.zip )

    Cheers,
