    Hi,

    Im farely new to thin clienthing and I am not used to speak english so pardon me for my faults. 8)

    I am trying to creat a thin client environment with a default.ini and a few username.ini’s. This is what my wnos.ini looks like:

    ;************************************************* ************

    ;* General 1 *

    ;************************************************* ************

    autoload=2

    Fileserver=**************

    EnableGKey=yes

    ;************************************************* ************

    ;* General 2 *

    ;************************************************* ************

    Device=Audio Volume=25 Mute=No

    ;************************************************* ************

    ;* Display *

    ;************************************************* ************

    DESKTOP=fishpartners.jpg

    FormURL=fp_URL.jpg

    DesktopColorDepth=32

    Screensaver=”10″ LockTerminal=no Type=1

    ;************************************************* ************

    ;* Input Devices *

    ;************************************************* ************

    Language=us_int

    KeySequence=yes Ctrl+Alt+Del=yes

    ;*************************************************************

    ;* Peripherals *

    ;*************************************************************

    Language=us_int

    ;************************************************* ************

    ;* Time *

    ;************************************************* ************

    Timeserver=******** Timeformat=”24-hour format” Dateformat=dd/mm/yyyy

    TimeZone=’GMT + 02:00′ ManualOverride=yes

    ;************************************************* ************

    ;* Network *

    ;************************************************* ************

    Community=public

    Device=Ethernet Speed=”Auto”

    SignOn=1 DefaultINI=my_default_settings.ini Savelastusername=Yes

    DomainList=***

    MaxVNCD=1

    VncPassword=*********

    DHCPOptionsRemap=yes

    ;************************************************* ************

    ;* General Session *

    ;************************************************* ************

    SessionConfig=ALL UnmapPrinters=no UnmapSerials=no MapDisks=yes DisableSound=No

    now, my point is: I (think) i do have the right settings to log in with a username.ini and if it can not be found it should go to the default.ini right? But my thin client does not go to the default.ini unless i type in default. I am using a wyse WT12000LE with firmware 5.2.0_69.

    Could someone please tell me what i am doing wrong? I have read a lot forums so i hope at least confgen will know the problem. Other help is wanted too offcourse.

    Thanks in advance.

    Two issues with your setup:
    – you do not have any backend defined in the wnos.ini. To log in (SignOn=yes) you would need something in the backend to authenticate you. This is typically a Citrix PNagent site or a View server.
    – DefaultINI parameter is quite new and not know to the old 1200LE firmware.

    Well, I just got a new device from the company where i’m trying to configure this for. So that should not be a problem anymore. It’s a S10.

    Furthermore, I already thought that I needed a backend defined but didn’t know how exactly. And in the first case, I wanted a NTLM authentication but then I can’t use the default.ini right?

    Oh and BTW,
    thanks for the quick response!

    You will at least firmware version 6.5.0_41 or 7.0.0_21 on your S10.
    If you want to use NTLM you have to use SignOn=NTLM
    Additionally you have o configure your AD controller to run in NTLM compatible mode.

    I do have firmware 6.5.0_30f, but this is not enough if im correct? Then that is what I will try to fix first.

    second, I do know how to configure the NTLM login but my quistion was that I want to know if it is possible to log in with NTLM and have a default.ini.
    sorry if im wrong but I couldn’t find the answer in your response.

    thanks in advance

    Yes, NTLM or any other authentication will work along with username.ini and default.ini.

    I understand but the company has thin clients so there should be free firmware for members of the thin community right?

    NO!!!
    You can buy a maintenance contract from Wyse and THEN you have access to all new firmware releases.
    This is the same as with other companies. If you ever bought Windows XP, you cannot get Windows Vista or Windows 7 for free.

    okay okay, I understand but I meant that I have got 6.5.0_30f so you would think that 6.5.0_41 is just a free update. Like a service pack update for windows. You get my point? but its obvious that mayor updates would cost money. My apologies for asking such a dumb questions. thanks for your help.

    If you have 6.5_x you can update for free on any 6.5_x firmware. Same for 7.0_x or 7.1_x and so on.
    But you would have to contact Wyse support directly to get.
