Hi Guys, first off – great site name! Found you via Google, hoping someone here can help.

I have a customer using a V90 to connect to a 2003 Terminal Server via MSTSC – unsurprisingly. Whats happening is that they are now unable to connect due to there being “no valid license found on this machine”.

I can resolve this in the short term by logging on as admin and resetting the terminal server licensing key in the registry. I was wondering if there was something simple i’m missing here. I really dont want to disable the write filter if at all possible.

I had a scour on the Wyse KB but, dear oh dear that thing needs a major information injection!

Thanks in advice for any advice, if you need any more info, ask away πŸ™‚
    Ray.

    Hi Ray,

what firmware build is installed on the V90? Have you tried to install the latest one from Wyse.com?

    Hi Ray,

The V90 should save the TSCAL even with the write filter on. You can your the Wyse management software and the TSCAL package on this site to reset the MSlicense key however it does not solve the root cause.

You have one of two problems:

    – Something is wrong with the TS License server (most likely issue, are there enough licenses?)

    – Somehow the image is broken and is not saving the TSCAL between reboots. Not likely but possible if the image has been incorrectly modified (the customer may have broken the netXclean service). As confgen suggests load a fresh image from wyse.com and see if the license is stored in the registry between reboots,

    Cheers,
    -TT

Thanks for the replies! I’m not at work till tomorrow but will check/update the firmware accordingly.

I did check that there were no general licensing issues/temp licenses being issued for example.. everything looks ok from that side.

The customer has roughly 15 v90’s and it only seems to be a few that are doing it, as they bought them in different batches i’m inclined to think the firmware suggestion is a damn good shout!

    Thanks again!
    Ray.
