Is there any way to know whether TCX is working?

From the quality of video playback and the audio lag, I would have to guess that it isn’t.

My Event Log doesn’t show anything one way or the other. No errors, but no indications that it’s loading either. Should there be some record of TCX there?

    Absolutely there is…

Launch the session to the VDI desktop now press the CTRL – ALT – on the keyboard of the V10L. This will window the session on the Wyse device.

Near the clock there is a small “?” icon, click it once, this will bring up the event log. Now run some supported media in the session like a .WMV.

In the event log you should see “TCX Licence valid until XX/XX/XXXX and then

MMR MPEG4 Audio-X or something like that.

Did you see those messages? If not can you tell me more about your environment, are you using a direct RDP connection or VMware VDM/XenDesktop?

    Cheers,
    -TT

Please post your wnos.ini file. If the TCX license you are using is an eval version you can post it along with the wnos.ini, if not delete the string.
Most common issue is that the time server entry is missing. This way WTOS cannot see if the license is still valid and did not use TCX.

I added the timeserver at Confgen’s suggestion, but still see no indication that TCX is loading. We don’t have a timeserver on the network, so I added one that’s not far away.

The event log always ends at ‘Checking Software….’ Nothing ever shows up after that.

Do you see the correct time in the taskbar? Or just a 0:00?
Can you also post your eventlog (right click WTOS desktop and select Copy to clipboard – Eventlog)?

    Nothing about TCX.

Just out of curiosity. TCX does work with streaming media, right? That’s what I’m trying to view. Not local files.

    Thanks.

Is it a video on the web somewhere I can test with? What format does it have?

I think most any video on the web would be a good test.

    Here’s one from CNN:

Just to make clear TCX MMR is working at all for you, you should test with a local file first. Just select a MPEG1 or 2 video and test it.
I doubt that the CNN videos will work as most of the web based videos are flash based and this is currently not supported.

Ok. Got it. Yeah, it works with a local video. Should have tried that first I guess.

    Thanks ConfGen.

Oh, quick question about the Configuration Generator. How do the daylight saving start and end dates work? Mine always seem to come out for 2007. (see the time settings in my wnos.in above) Does it update for 2008?

    Thanks again.

    030507 means
    03 = March 3rd month
05 = last week of the month
    07 = sunday

There is no year in this format.

Looks like your device can not contact the time server, you will need to fix this. Have a look in your event log where processing stops here:

    25: Contacting SNTP [129.6.15.29] …

It seems to do this no matter which time server I use.

    This is not typical behavior?

I had thought it was just checking the server at regular intervals.

Is there a setting for that, btw? How often it checks the server?

Do you see the correct time in the system tray? Then everything is OK. Now setting for the interval. available.
