I’ve got a remove location served by two T1 WAN connections. There are about 100 S-10s there that connect to a Xenapp 5 farm here at the mothership.

The remote users notice all sorts of weird little quirks that the local users don’t seem to get. Things like windows unexpectedly losing focus, mouse disappears for 10 seconds or so, can’t restore windows from the task bar, etc.

I was wondering if anyone has any server side TCP/IP tuning tips for supporting Wyse terminals over a WAN.

The S-10s are running 6.1, but I have tried 6.5 with little or no improvement.

When you do a PING to the remote site, what is the typical roundtrip time?
Maybe Wyse VDA is solution for you. But only if RTT is more than 150-250ms.

ping times are in the 85ms to 95ms range.

I don’t think latency or bandwidth is the issue – I’m suspecting something like dropped or dup packets, dup acks, out of order packets, fragmentation, etc

    The link is AT&T MPLS
