    Hello,

I’m trying to install WDM 4.4.1 and am running into an issue with SQL. The server details are as follows:

    – Windows 2003 SP1
    – IIS, FTP
    – Pre-install hotfixes i.e. HF04041021605 & HF04041020005
    – Remote installation of SQL 2000 to host the database (with Rapport login created and given database creator rights)

The installation runs until the following error appears:

Unable to attach the Rapport database:
sp_attach_db :[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Device activation error. The physical file name ‘C:Program FilesRapportDatabaseRapport4.MDF’ may be incorrect.

Any light anyone could shed would be hugely appreciated.

    Kind regards,

    Hi,

I think karaziel may be able to answer this one fully but I believe you can not remotely connect to the SQL server and create the DB.

Run the installer on the SQL server, enter the Enterprise key and select custom installation. Only tick the install database option and this will only create the Rapport DB with the correct schema, not install Rapport.

On the Rapport server select custom installation again and select “use existing database and put in the SQL server name.

    That should do the trick!

    Cheers,
    -TT

Cheers TT, that did the trick though the DBA took some convincing as she wasn’t too happy having to run an installation on the SQL box.
    Everything looks good now.
