    Another question 🙂

I’ve been having trouble scanning and detected many of our devices so I think we may need to set up a DHCP option tag on our scopes…

I’ve asked the guys who handle that to take a look at this and they sent me a gui with a few fields…

From the admin manual that came with WDM I can see that it says we need to set up option tags 186 and 187 to supply the WDM agent with the proper WDM web server ip address and port…

The fields the Admin are looking for are:

    Name:
Data Type (currently says “Byte” with a check box that says “array” unchecked)
    Code:
    Description:

anyone have any experience in setting this up?

    thanks!

You only need OT 186. OT 187 is only for the port that is used. If you haven’t changed this from default port 80, you do not need this OT at all.

    Tell them

Name: could be anything, eg WDM Server
    Data Type: IP address
    Code: 186
Description: could be anything, eg WDM Server

    seems to be working well.

    thanks again for the info.

Question, not directly related to WDM but have any of you ever set up a DHCP option tag and used the hostname instead of an IP address?

I’m thinking its probably not possible and on the windows side of things but I figured I’d ask…
