I wasnt sure where to put this post, it seems every area covers all the Wyse series but D, so i figured i’d start here. I have a couple of questions that i’m hoping someone can help with, i’m new to the wyse terminals so my questions might be somewhat noobish 🙂

    1. Is there a way to pull an image off of the wise terminal that i’m setting up so i can deploy it onto the 7 other ones that i’ll be getting soon?

    2. How can i configure this terminal so that it doesnt wipe certain settings when i reboot? The write filter is off and i’ve checked into the netxclean config file but honestly i dont know what to even edit in there to make it work. A couple of things that it’s delete is the background, screen saver, and configuration for our citrix server (the URL that the client uses to connect)

I’ve edited the config file for netxclean to exclude the domain profile (Chbchb) but that didnt help.

If anyone could help i’d be very grateful. thank you all in advance!

Is it wiping your settings when you reboot, or when you are running sysprep? Also, you can set NetXclean to NOT clean profiles, and it WILL continue to clean everything else listed under the ini file, except for the profiles. The dynamic profiles is the amount of profiles you want saved on the machine itself. Is your domain profile on the machine being deleted? Please give more details.

You can use WDM or use their thimb drive utility to pull the image off and deploy to other machines, once you have your gold image.

To pull and push an image you can use either Wyse Device Manager or the Wyse USB Firmware Tool.

Have you joined your devices to the domain?

no, id like to keep it off the network just for the sake of random logs and files that would eat away from my already small flash harddrive. I think i got the issue figured out late friday…i called the wyse support rep i have and we think the netxclean file was causing the issues. Since i dont have it on the domain he said the netxclean file wasnt needed so we disabled that service. So far it seems to be keeping my configs.

he also said the D series is so new the usb firmware tool is in beta stage, he got me the beta version so i’ll be testing that out when my other wyse terminals arrive.

Just keep an eye on your free space, you won’t have any help clearing out unnecessary files with that service turned off. If you patch your machine and have WES7 installed, you will not have much free space to play with. Later
