    Hi All,

I have been having a great deal of trouble on this topic but before I get into too much detail I need some quick advice.

The last official firmware on our support account is 5.2.0.39.

I have contacted WYSE in .AU an recieved 5.2.0.58 , but have already read that others are having similar issues to me with what they say is a later version (.60 ?)

So firstly can someone confirm what the latest version is ?

Also is there is a guru out there could they breifly explain the difference or need for the UTC_Boot as Wyse support did not send me a new one, only the UTC_512.

    Much appreciated.

    Tim Canning

    Hi Tim,

the latest 5.2 code I know of is 5.2.069.
The difference between UTC_512 and UTC_wnos is simple:
The 1200LE has only 512Kb of flash and is therefore extremly limited regarding space. That’s why Wyse created two 1200LE firmware version. One that fits completely in 512Kb and one that is bigger but has more features.
The UTC_wnos is the big one and will be loaded each time the unit boots in RAM. UTC_512 is the small one and will stay in flash.
UTC_boot will only update the boot code and not the firmware.

    Does this make sense?

    Thanks CG.

Do you know where I can get a copy ? Wyse support in Australia seem to be a bit behind I think .

    You explanation makes good sense.

But I am a bit thick, so a couple of other questions.

So every update should contain UTC_512 and UTC_WNOS ? And you need to choose between flashing or loading each time ?

And the UTC_Boot is just if I have an issue and needs to be changed ?

    Thanks again.

If there is a UTC_wnos file it ill load it on boottime as long as the local firmware is older. If you have flashed the unit using UTC_512 once with the latest code it will not load the UTC_wnos anymore.
UTC_boot is only used once to bring the boot code to the latest version. But not each nw firmware is having a new bootcode.
So, it is normaly enough to have just the UTC_512 or _wnos in your FTP folder.
I cannot send out any firmware but even the support in downunder beeing so far away from the Wyse HQ should be able to give you that firmware 😉

    Great Thanks.

Got hold of a senior tech at Wyse .au today.

He believes that the lastest is .62 and so I have a WNOS and 512 of .62.
So thanks, understand you cant send it. But if you can confirm there is later I will chase it further.

    Again a bit thick.

Ok at first I have but both files in, I assume that this means they have been flashed to .62 and can not go back until I down grade the firmware ( .39 for instance )? I also asume that it will be using the UTC_512 and igoring the UTC_wnos

So after down grade I just put the UTC_wnos ( .62) back in an it should download everytime.

Sorry for the repitition , It annoys me that a fairly simple system gets me confused. I think it may be due to the lack of sleep ( New Baby )

Incidentally, what sort of ‘features’ are mising from the UTC_512 ?

    Thanks, Tim Canning

    Congrats to your newborn.

What you have written about up- and downgrading is correct.

Latest version I have is .69.
