Is it possible to send an script to the Wyse without using WDM/Rapport?
Or is there anyone to send commands to the hagent service, without using WDM/Rapport?

I’m just curious what the possibilities are, with managing the Wyse NC’s without using the “default” software.

It is for the Wyse V90 serie and the 941GXL.

You could use SNMP commands but this would not give you much functionality. If you don’t want WDM why not just use a different management agent?

As long as you script the the use of the Write Filter you could send packages to the device, there are only 2 drawbacks to this:

    – Most PC management agents (SMS etc) have a large footprint and use up a lot of Flash space.

    – You would not be able to image devices, just send packages

    Cheers,

Thanks, didn’t know that the agent could talk snmp. I’m going to take a look at this.

What we want to do and I think it is possible without rapport/wdm is with a script turn off the write filter and run a config program, that was created by ourselfs.

It is just as a test, our final goal is to manage the wyse NC’s directly from our “helpdesk” program (which is written by us).

Maybe someone already has some examples of this or even maybe better ideas.

Ok, if you dont want to use any managment but want to configure the device maybe use VBscripting to configure them? Have a look at the EWF service, you can do a command line ewfmgr /? to get the switches I think.

Thanks for the tip of ewfmgr.

But I’m a bit lost in the dark right now.

What is the smartest thing to do, find out how I can manually kick hagent with a rsp-script. Or make my own vbscript and run my own “service” to run the script on the NC. (where ewfmgr could be a great help).

Has anyone some examples for me, without the use of Rapport/WDM or some ideas what I should do?

edit: Whoops, just read that it is possible to run vbscript from a rsp script 😀
But unfortanly no luck with starting the script manually.

    Hi,

I was not thinking of using the hagent to kick the script off, my idea was to run the script remotely against the terminal or put the script on the terminal and run it on first boot.

The scripting center on the Microsoft site has lots of samples to do this.

Really though, why not just use the free Rapport software and kick off the script?

I know that rapport/wdm works very easy and we use it at this moment to run scripts at the terminal.

I’m just curious what the possibilities are without using rapport/wdm, cause if this is possible, there is maybe a way we can implement this in the helpdesk application.

At this moment we only use rapport/wdm for scripting. Even vnc is replaced with radmin, not free, but much faster.

Sorry for this kick, but I’ve almost everything working as we wanted to be.

So we can image the NC’s directly from our own software, we can monitor them by Radmin, we can see the complete configuration etc. The only thing that should be real sweet is sending an RSP script from our software instead of WDM.

So I was wondering if anyone has any idea how can I accomplish this. As mentioned above it should be possible bij SNMP, but I have no idea where to start with this, my SNMP knowledge is very minimal. So any help would be appreciated.
