In the past I have converted several of my customers from CRTs over to a Wyse thin client which used the CE operating system. My config goal is upon bootup to automatically connect into a telnet server and not allow any other functionality… basically a direct replacement for the CRTs. If the person tries to get out of the telnet client the system sends him right back into it.
While it was clearly spelled out how to accomplish this in the WinCE client manual, I haven’t found any details about “locking it down” with the XPe S90. Can anyone direct me?
In the area of “replication” I have been looking into the use of an ftp server to perform updates. The manual tells of a “ftp addon utility” that should be found under the control panel, but I don’t seem to have that utility. Is there some other place to start it up?
Is there a way to reset this device to the factory defaults? IIRC there was a procedure to do that with the WinCE model, but can’t find it for this one… maybe I have to somehow “re-image” the OS back into the device?
My ultimate goal is to “lock this unit down” and then somehow create an image that I can apply to other units. My customer bought a couple of dozen of these and sent me one to “learn”.
Thanks in advance.

Check out my “How to create a XPe based image ” doc in the Products sections.
To duplicate the image you will have to install WDM (Wyse Device Manager).
