We currently have multiple Wyse S10 (Firmware 5.1.040) units that randomly get “connection reset by peer” error messages. This happens after a period of inactivity. Their connection to the server isn’t severed only the published app(s). The user is able to get back in without having to log into the session again by opening the app from the application menu.

We have 3 servers running Metaframe Presentation Server, Advanced Edition 4.0 with plenty of available licenses. I tried adding KeepAliveTime and KeepAliveInterval to the registry of the 3 servers with no luck. Anyone else seen this or have suggestions?

    Hi,

Are these on a LAN or WAN? Also check there is no disconnect on X seconds of inactivity set up on the ICA connections on the servers.

    Cheers,
    -TT

    TT,

They are on a LAN connection and there are no Connection, Disconnection, or Idle timeouts set.

A little more info – we have workstations that connect to the same apps/servers using a Citrix ICA connection and are in the same area as the terminals that never lose their connection.

    Thanks

    H.

This is on the LAN? I have absolutely not seen that before, I am at a bit of a loss for this one. It may need a support call but they will want Packet Capture information I would imagine.

Is the time it drops out consistent with inactivity? ie. If the client is inactive for 5 mins does it then drop or is it random? Is it only as you indicated at times of inactivity?

BTW – lots of posts in the forums today, I can hardly keep up!

It is on the LAN. I saw that a few others had this issue while searching the Citrix Knowledgebase but there was know resolution.

It never happens while they are actually using the client only during inactivity. The inactive time before it drops is random though. It’s happened after 5 min but it also has been inactive for hours without dropping. I haven’t been able to find a consistent pattern.

Not a problem. I appreciate the effort.

    Hi,
    I’m having the same problem.
When I connect in a ICA aplication from S10, I lost my conection in around 30 min, and it show “connection reset by peer” message. But when I change the terminal from S10 to 1225 this problem doesn’t happen again.
Do you have any sugestion to help me?

    Thanks,
    Rafael

    Hi!

We have the same problem in our lan (in VLAN1).
“Connection reset by peer” after a while on active and inactive sessions.
    S10 Clients with DHCP.

Try reserving an IP on the DHCP Server for the Clients or give them fix IPs.

In an other defined VLAN2 the Client work fine with normal DHCP.

So my workaround is using DHCP-Reservations in VLAN1 and normal DHCP in VLAN2.

We have not resolved our lan problems in vlan1 clearly
but maybe there are defunct devices or too much broadcast traffic which disturb the WYSE S10 Clients.

    hope it helps 😉

    Domenco
