    hi,

i have a S10 terminal. we’ve been trying to configure the terminal through wnos.ini. everything went well but in further testing we’ve encountered this problem. 25: DNS/WINS can’t resolve [wyseftpfbc4tc] 26: Cannot access system profile. on line 2: Characteristics: Lockdown. the privilege was set to none before the error occurs.

I have already tried reconfiguring the wnos.ini file but I’m still stuck with the problem. it seems that it can’t find the server. i have tried my ftp with my other S10, it still works on it. so i don’t have problems with my ftp. I’m still in the middle of the maze resolving the error.

any ideas out there? really need help here…

    thanks CG,

just found out that my server is infected with a network virus named conficker.a, have not tried fixing the S10 yet, had a busy day. but could it be possible if the s10 can be infected also with the virus? as i have understand conficker.a virus spreads through network which cannot be identified in the process and infects other pc without antivirus notification. and may I know if what’s the latest firmware version of S10? I’ve got 6.2.0_08 is this the latest version? by the way as I have remembered i had last set autoload=2 so it was set to upgrade the firmware only, right? if i could get the server fixed would it override the autoload settings from WNOS? and lastly, what is Hserver? the unit is searching for it.

No impossible. There are no known viruses out there which can infect a WTOS device.

and may I know if what’s the latest firmware version of S10? I’ve got 6.2.0_08 is this the latest version?

Latest version in 6.2 code tree is 6.2.0_42. But there is also 6.3 and 6.4 code tree with a different feature set. 6.4.0.24 is the latest.

by the way as I have remembered i had last set autoload=2 so it was set to upgrade the firmware only, right?

    Correct

if i could get the server fixed would it override the autoload settings from WNOS?

If you have a different wnos.ini file on that server with different setting and your devices are looking for that new server, then the answer is yes.

    and lastly, what is Hserver?

HServer is the WDM or Wyse Device Manager. “H” stands for HTTP as the clients are communicating via HTTP with the WDM server.

You would have to get one from Wyse.

    Hi CG,

I’m completely frustrated now with S10. have not received any reply from wyse yet for the firmware. I have tried reading the first steps but it seems in this situation it can’t be applied. I can’t reset the terminal with G key because it wasn’t declared in wnos.ini before it got problems. I could not reset it also with shutdown & restart & restore to factory settings because the terminal was set to lockdown with privilege=none..
here’s the event log of the s10.

    1: System version: 6.2.0_08f (ROM: 1,14i)
    2: Characteristics: Lockdown

I also tried another s10 but it seems to work out fine. does the DNS fallback problem resides in the S10 terminal? any alternatives resolving this problem.

I’ve had issues in the past when passing though the path to the wnos.ini. Either remember add WNOS to the Directory or pass ? through from DHCP.

I have set the terminal to 10.0.0.12wyse and have placed my wnos.ini file in c:inetpubftpwysewnos and with my confusion, i have created a copy of the wnos.ini outside the wnos folder. Another thing got me confused is that i have another s10 unit with the same network configuration but it works out fine. it accepts the wnos.ini configuration.

I have remembered the first step.doc, it needs to configure ddc but i don’t have the WDM enterprise model. can’t figure out to download the trial version.

    thanks,

    Keith,

WDM DDC has nothing to do with that. First let us fix your issue and then you can tink about using DDC.

What username is used to access the FTP server from the failing S10?
Can you try to reset the S10 to factory defaults?
As I see in the logs that the HServer path is changed, I guess that you already have a WDM server running, correct? And I also guess that this WDM server is sending out the wnos folder redirection along with a different FTP username (rapport).
If I am correct then your S10 is trying to access the FTP with the username rapport and therefore switches to 10.0.0.12rapportwysewnos.

    Can check all this?

    Happy New year to all!!

    hi CG,

I have not set any user name on my wnos.ini. does declaring username causes this problem? i was also testing the username that time but i could not recall if that caused the problem.

is there another way to reset it to factory defaults except using G key? I wasn’t able to declare the enableGkey when i created the wnos. i never expect that it could get this kind of problem.

yes I have a wdm but not the enterprise model. I have the latest version 4.7.2.

When you shutdown the S10 you can select to reset to factory defaults – at least if there is no privilege level set 😉

That’s one of the settings too… it was set to be protected 🙁 the privilege level is none, so the option reset to factory defaults was hidden.

if i could upgrade the firmware, would it reset it to factory defaults? or is there a usb imager for s10?

Upgrading will not reset the unit.

Please sum up all needed details once more:

    – IP of your FTP server
    – complete path where your wnos.ini is stored on the FTP server
    – complete entry on the S10 for the Fileserver
    – username used to access the Fileserver
    – check WDM server if under Configuration Manager-Preferences-WTOS Preferences the checkbox to submit the WTOS path is checked.
