I’m currently building images for my company’s XP embedded clients, and would like to be able to create a WDM package to push and commit a single file to my XP embedded clients. This is possible on the V90L and X90L which have the file-based write filter, but my 9455XL clients have the old “all or nothing” enhanced write filter which seems to make this impossible without allowing other unwanted changes by the user to be committed with the file.

Is there any way to remove the EWF (or at least completely disable it) and install the FBWF on its own? I know people have successfully installed the FBWF on XP Pro, but all the guides cover fresh installations with no other disk protection already in place. I cannot find any information on how to safely install the FBWF if the EWF is already installed and running.

Is there a way to safely remove/disable the EWF in Windows XP Embedded? If not, is there any way I can commit a single file without having to worry about any other changes being committed with it?

Any help/information would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

no, there is no FBWF image for 9455. And I do not think there is a way to replace one with the other.
But if you push a single file to a 9455 via WDM, WDM takes care of the WF status. So it will reboot, disable the WF, push the file, reboot and finally enable the WF again.
This should take care of the problem with users saving their own files.
