Does anyone know of a way to release a dhcp ip address on a winterm (blazer os) without doing a hard reset on it?
The only way I could think of the to set a static and then back to dynamic IP, maybe this would do it.
I have not had that request before, whats the issue?
Sorry to take so long to reply. We had run out of addresses in our DHCP pool at one of our sites. Temporarily, we wanted to release some IPs from some of the winterms back into the pool.
Did changing from static to dynamic then back to static work for you?
You might try and contact Wyse Customer Support and request to add release/renew as an ehancement for future versions.
You could submit this as a request, remember that a Dynamic IP will not be restored during a reboot. The Thin client will request a new one so given that it takes about 8 seconds for a reboot I would just use Rapport to reboot all the clients and get the new IP.
If you are doing a subnet change use Rapport to shutdown all the terminals before the new subnet addressing is put in place. The Workgroup version of Rapport to do all this is free.
