I’m using Rapport 4.4.1 with HF040401032905.
I installed it on an WinXP Sp2 PC working in a workgroup. Everything worked pretty fine, after Mr. Moellerbernd configured the system.
That was yesterday. Today we installed the PC in our domain and now Rapport is not working the way we want to.
We don’t use DHCP but static IP and so we entered the network addresses manually into the clients.
The TCs get their config FTP, so this works. But in Rapport we cannot see any client being online. The status is always red and searching ended with no result.
What do I have to do to make Rapport work?
btw do you understand my English or is here anyone speaking German?

Its best to have the PC a member of the domain before installing Rapport, I am assuming that you had to do a bit of tweaking to get the rapport console to work as it would not have had a domain account.
I would check IIS, the permissions can change after domain membership that can cause issues with the web service. Have a look for any event log errors. Also even though the devices are red can you manage them? If you send a reboot or image does it work? This will give me an idea on how broken Rapport is.
Thomas is a great engineer and I am sure will help out if needs be too.
Finally, I don’t speak German but your Australian is pretty good! 🙂

I cannot reach him today, cause his mobile phone is turned off…
The Diagnostic tool tells me that my Hinit-Server and Standard Service Information ist not in the right IP. So I looked into the Rapport SQL-DB and changed the IP in table “server”.
After that the diag started with all signs green, so everything seems to be allright. But another problem occured, of course when sth. is changed manually.
I cannot start the HInit-Service as long as the IIS Rapport HTTP Server is running. Wehen I turn HTTP off Hinit will work.
Of course in Rapport I can’t manage any TC. Btw I have WT1125SE. So they get the config from FTP but the DDC from Rapport.
What’s wrong now??
Here is what the System log shows:
1. When IIS ist runed off:
“Unable to initialize the Rapport Management Software Web Server component. Either Rapport Web Server has not been installed or the Web Service is not configured properly. Please refer to the Rapport Help documentation for more information.”
2. IIS online and HinitServer
– Debug: Got IIS web service info from metabase
– Debug: Successfully got IIS web service info from metabase
– The service was started.
– Rapport Management Software Web Server component successfully initialized
– The service was stopped.
The InitSerhver is not starting properly.

Did you change the IP address of Rapport as well as Join the domain?
Is IIS set to respond to all “unassigned address” or the old IP? Also if you changed IP check the Master Software Repository has the updated IP address.

The HServer Init is just an inital service. It is OK that it is started and directly stopped again.23. June 2006 at 13:58 #8704
I changed also the IP, correct. So I checked all the entries I knew, but there was always the new IP but in the SQL table “server”.
I uninstalled all programs a few minutes ago and after the reboot I cannot use the SnapIn anymore, although everything was now correct installed. How can I make this work?
Just a few errors more and I am going to kill the PC and start all over again..24. June 2006 at 3:52 #8705
Hehe, yep good plan! This time have the PC as a domain member before installing Rapport. Also use a domain account not a local account for the installation. Please see the Rapport Installation Templates on this site the the artical “Wyse Rapport 4.4.1 Fails to Install” currently on the front page of this site.
Also don’t forget to keep/backup your wnos directory before you rebuild the PC.
Please post back if you were successful!

yippie…everything works fine now. It took a little time to install and configure it but finally I made it work.
Just one problem with Rapport:
I want to create a subgroup in Device Manager to differentiate display resolutions in each office. Every subgroup has its own image and is assigned in the DDC.
But when the terminal boots it cannot find the system profile. The standard WNOS path is put in the FTP path of the TC.
I already told this Mr. Moellerbernd and he wanted to check this. Maybe I’ll get an answer in a few days.
Thank you all for your help.26. June 2006 at 9:40 #8707
Great to hear its all working now!
To use DDC you will need to have Rapport Enterprise and tick the “enable ftp/ini at checkin” box under preferances. Also in preferances tick enable DDC.
Here is a few docs on setting this up:
Thanks for posting back,

Creating the subgroups is not a problem. Put a DDC to a subgroup does not work.
I have a group called like one of my offices. With the subgroups I want to divide diffenrent resolutions like “Office1->1024×768” and “Office1->800×600”. So for my other destinations “Office2->1024×768″….
I took an image called “Off1_1024” and created a DDC for that office and only for the group “Office1_1024”. And that is not working.
So I hope, this is a known error at Wyse and will soon be solved.26. June 2006 at 11:17 #8709
Have you installed hotfix HF04041033005?
This resolves an issue where DDC will not apply to Wyse Thin OS when the view is more that 2 levels deep. Sounds like your issue.26. June 2006 at 11:35 #8710
No I didn’t. I contacted the Wyse support and Mr Moellerbernd to send me this hotfix. Do you have the files?
As I heard the latest firmware isn’t also available from the homepage. Thomas gave me that firmware, but why isn’t it available from the net?26. June 2006 at 11:46 #871126. June 2006 at 11:48 #8712AnonymousMember

Wyse only release firmware on the website when it was fully tested. Firmware versions which only include some hotfixes for special circumstances are not released and only available via Wyse Support.
Best would be to contact Wyse Support or your Wyse contact Thomas.

I contacted Mr Moellerbernd and he send me the hotfix a few minutes ago.
After installing it everything worked the way I wanted. Great.
Meanwhile I like Rapport more and more as I first hated it so much ;o)
We got used to IGEl ThinClients and they worke really great with easy to install profiles. And Rapport is so big for our small company with ~70 TCs…
With your support I get used to it… As long as you understand my English *bg*
