We have about 500 R50LE running SUSE and they show up with blank lease names on our DHCP server so the names are registering in DNS. We have some ThinOS wyse devices and the name shows up under the DHCP lease and also get populated in DNS. Does anyone know why or how to fix this? I have a feeling that the domain suffix isn’t being set properly with SUSE linux. If you look at the network settings on the device is does indicate the correct domain. Is this a known bug?
We had a similar issue we reported to our Wyse contact. He provided me with an rpm named “dhclient_hostname-1-0.sletc11sp1.rpm” that we had to drop in the addons folder, as well as create a file called “directory” that within it just had 1 line, “dhclient_hostname-1-0.sletc11sp1.rpm” (no quotes). Then, within our wlx.ini file, we had to enter, again without quotes “NewAddons=dhclient_hostname-1-0.sletc11sp1.rpm”.
I’d attach the RPM here but doesn’t look like this forum supports file attachments.
