    Hi,

I have got a central Rapport server and remote sites. I need to push packages out from the Rapport server to the Wyse uits on these remote sites very frequently.

The link to these remote sites is not that great and packages sometimes take several minutes to install and sometimes even times out and fails.

Is there a solution like i can setup a replication server sort of (just on a desktop PC or low end server) at each remote site that can take to the central server to synchronise packages and then later on as and when required packages can be pushed from the replication server to the Wyse units locally? – this will definately be faster and will save bandwidth during peak hours.

    Any suggestions please?

    Thanks.

Sure, this is a core component of the WDM enterprise edition. There you can create so called “Remote Software Repositories” in the Configuration Manager.
These SW Repositories are then linked to the appropriate subnet.
All you need on the remote site is a working FTP server.

You can use any FTP server on the remote site, even Linux should work.
After creating the FTP site you can add it to the Configuration Manager-SW Repositories.
Finally open Configuration Manager-Network-Subnet and double click on the subnet where you have created the FTP site. There you can select the new FTP server instead of useing the “Master”.
