Hello, I’m trying to help someone out who wants to donate some Wyse Cx0 Thin Clients to a school. I have a fairly reasonable understanding of computer systems but I’m not familiar with Thin Clients. Basically, I can confidently follow instructions and tinker without breaking anything with respect to Thin Clients. They were previously used in a business and I’m trying to turn them into very basic pseudo-desktops. They’re meant to be donated to a local school and all we really need is for them to have web browsing and access to the file system (i.e. capable of accepting and accessing removable storage). I also need to change the home page for Internet Explorer which for some reason doesn’t stay changed after I change it. These were fairly locked down when I got a hold of them and so far all I’ve been able to do is log into the Administrator account and fiddle with GPEdit to partially achieve what I want.
Is there a way to wholesale reset these and make these into desktop-like machines or am I stuck running through GPEdit until I find things that seem relevant?
After logging in as an administrator, the first thing to do should be, disabling the FBWF (File Based Write Filter).
Failing to do results in not saving any changes over a reboot.
After you have done that, you can configure and install in the same way as you would do with your PCs.
Don’t forget to enable the FBWF after the config is done.
