My deepest appreciation to Guido who made this tool and posted it here.
IT is excellent !
Anyone know who this fellow is ? Did not find PM for the name “Guido” on these forums
I have a deep wish for extension to the tool :
I am working on a case with 150 R90 WL devices which do not register automatically into WDM 4.7.2. With a patched image from Wyse this work , but I want to avoid manual registration into WDM for each device first ..
My wish is to have a possibility to import a comma delimitied text file (output from a network ip scanner tool) with devices found into the WDM database. Is this possible to extend the tool with ?
Can you Guido if you see this request contact me at email@example.com

I will forward you question to Guido as I know him quite well. (Surprise, surprise)
But, if I understand your wish correctly then this is already part of either WDM and WDM SQL Queries.
Guido named it “Import Client Rename List” and Wyse has named it “Import Device Settings” under Configuration Manager-Utilities.

Thank you for helping.
I am a little embarrased to admit to not have tested this import utility within WDM. But when I tried this today using pattern from admin guide it does not give you possibility to import the ip – address..everything else like device name and mac is imported ..So it is a good start for me..

Here is Guidos reply:
If understand your request right you also need to import the ip adress for each client. (Right now wdm import is setting ip adress 0.0.0.0 for all clients and my tool 184.108.40.206)
The only reason, i can imagine, why you will need this is:
You want to remote contol your clients via vnc / wdm – even if they are not able to checkin via wdm hagent, i am right?
So, i believe i could easily extend my import file (thinclientlist.txt) with an ip adress field. (In any case you also need to know the mac adress to import a client)
But be aware of this: an imported client does not mean that hagent communication also has to work…(Maybe realtime commands will do – execute command, shutdown, restart…)
Will this help you??11. January 2010 at 10:40 #17400
Guido you are perfectly addressing my need. If you can extend your import routine I am pleased…14. January 2010 at 15:43 #17419
Guido has updated his tool. It is now posted.

Thank you both for helping quickly with my needs.
The tool works almost perfect now, but I need another value imported as well. A column called “PXE Capable”. This i defaulted to “No” making it impossible to perform an image operation on the device. Can this be imported in the tool with value “Yes” ?
Thanks again…Time is precious for me with a need to deploy all clients before the weekend 😆25. January 2010 at 12:20 #17492
I will ask Guido.
