Error message: the system is running out of free memory and needs to restart

I am having issues rolling out c90le7 boxes to our field locations. What happens is that users are logging in with their domain user ID, and it accepts it and goes through the building profile, preping your desktop, then it will show the desktop but pop up an error message that says “the system is running out of free memory and needs to restart”.

I have talked to support and they had me set the z drive to max (500mb), and we’re still having this issue.

NOW, this does not happen every time someone logs in though. What I have figured out is that some times when we log on the profile is huge, it ranges from 40 mb to 1.06 GB, other times it’s a normal 12 mb. The folder that is taking up all the space is under profileapp datalocalmicrosoftwindows mail.

My first thought was there was a log on script doing something, because we dont have these issues if it’s a local account. So we put a line in the script that if the boxes name is xxx-wyse-xxxx skip to the bottom. Since doing that, the sizes have been bigger than ever.

Has anyone seen this… does anyone have any ideas?!?!?

    Thanks
    Ian

This is due to the fact that the cache of the write filter (FBWF) is getting full.
Either adjust the cache size of the write filter or reduce your profiles.

The profile is not supposed to be this large. It’s only supposed to be 15mb or so.

I can not figure out why some times we log in and our profiles are 15 mb, and other times they can be 80, 150, 350, 960, all the way up to 1 gig.

We don’t have this issue on our xp embedded wyse boxes, and dont have this issue on our regular work stations.

Maybe some people are storing big files on the desktop?

We do not use roaming profiles, here is what is taking up 1 gig upon making a new profile…

Tons of these random log files, the box will reboot and I’ll log back in and some times the profile is 15 mb and it does not contain this windows mail folder, other times it’s 500 mb instead of 1 gig.

I’m just getting really frustrated not being able to figure this out, and have people breathing down my neck to get these boxes out, but I’m not sending any more out until this is resolved.

And you cannot find out which app is creating these logfiles?

Do both of you use Windows Mail, Live Mail, or Outlook? Was there anything done to the App iteself, updates, or anything else on the GPO side regarding mail preferences? Anything around compacting or mailbox sizes. Any changes with antivirus, recent update that can be tied to it?
