We are using ThinOS connecting to a PNA site, users launching Citrix published applications.

We are having a slight issue with users getting impatient with the 1st application launch. Mainly this is due to the lack of feedback to the user that anything is happening. They get the static message stating “preparing desktop” (or similar). Sometimes this message disappears and then it is a further few seconds before the app is shown. In all our initial app launch / session logon is less than 60 seconds so not too worried about that, more that the users do not think anything is happening so then start trying to launch further applications which leads to non session sharing.

Anyone else have the same issues? What have you done to resolve the issue

    Cheers

    Hi James
I do not have this issue, because I auto start our published desktop. We did that because (1) we already had a published desktop and (2) because I did not want users to see the Wyse OS, and (3) in hindsight for the reasons you describe.

I would suggest you consider doing the same. Then users don’t have the choice until the desktop loads, and then from there everything should open in the same session because they would open it from that published Desktop.

If you do not do a desktop now though this can be a lot of work though, because you need to think about locking down the desktop, what shortcuts you want to show users, and so forth.

Actually, after I typed this I had another idea. Why not auto start something benign that would start the session? Then you can train your users to wait for this to launch before they click anything. for example auto start Windows Explorer, and ask them not to launch applications until Explorer starts?
