Hi,
I need to get java 1.6 working on the wyse terminal, or at least get the java standalone version of 1.5 working on it, which is javaws to use with a JNLP(Java Web Start).
Cause there is huge bug in java 1.5 and it stops our application from working.
I’ll appreciate any help. How to create package with 1.6 or extend current one, or maybe install different browser.

Hi,
You should contact Wyse Support as there is a Java 1.6 package already for Wyse Linux. Ask for it specifically, you may need to use a newer release of firmware to get it to install,

Looks like the link needs to be case sensitive 🙁
I guessed you were in Europe, the time stamp in Australian Eastern time so it makes sense for me, even if no one else in the world can work out what time the post was 🙂 The advantages of being admin of a forum!

“javaws http://10.255.44.85:8080/application/application.jnlp”
where javaws is in /usr/java/bin
I must admit I haven’t tried to find solution myself yet… but would appreciate any help 🙂

Hi,
There is a SDK from Wyse that can do this for you, really you only need to create a symbolic link. Most likely you could do this from the command shell and they pull the image as a master with WDM. Do you have the utils.pak which gives you the shell?

I also face the same issue. We need to run Java web start application (java 1.6) from firefox. S50 Firefox can’t run the JNLP application but V90 IE could. The java download url is not available any more. We might also need the utils.pak. Could you please post them again?Is it possible to load java 1.6 on Wyse V50L models? Only 1.5 is displayed in Wyse’s downloads for the V50L. We need 1.6 as we have numerous V50L and it would not make much sense to upgrade just for this.
Pointing to a download URL for something compatible for V50L will be very helpful.
