Hi there
i need to roll out some S90s to our Tokyo office and was wondering if anyong has installed a Japanese language pack before. I cannot get it from the wsye website and they want to charge me a fortune to build a custom image. Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers
28. March 2008 at 5:25 #12343Hi,
There is already a S90 localised for Japan so I do not see why Wyse would not sell you the regular Japanese model? Its my understanding that the MUI for many countries is in the image, have you test to see if you can simply switch language in the latest image?

-TT28. March 2008 at 5:31 #12344there is currently a 3 month waiting period on the S90s in Japan. So we bought some in Australia to set them up and send them over. There is no Japan option in the latest image to switch to. I tried to use an XP cd when isntall East Asian languages. It was missing serveral files during installation. I downloaded the files and once installed it didnt work. Do you think there is a way to download the firmware for the japanese model? and would that be missing english?
Cheers
28. March 2008 at 5:55 #12345My “guess” is it has English but load it up and see – I just looked on the Japan Wyse site for the image:

If it does not have the language interface you need then you will indeed need a custom image from Wyse,

-TT28. March 2008 at 6:01 #12348Thanks TT. The link is dead unfortuneatley. I’ll keep trying it throughout the weekend. Basically our users need to swap between Japanese and English keybaords. If we are running pnagent with seamless applications can they use the Japanese pack loaded on the Citrix server? They will be using IE locally on the S90 but if we can at least get them using the Japanese keyboard through Citrix in the meantime it was save my bacon
Cheers
28. March 2008 at 6:12 #12350Should not be a big problem, I check the image and it was linked to an older non-RoHS S90 image. Maybe this is why its pulled, ping Wyse and see if they can provide the latest image for RoHS S90’s.
Post back how you get on,

-TT28. March 2008 at 6:18 #12351Thanks. I have Wyse on phone seeing what they can do or any ideas. On the other thing regarding pnagent. Do you know how you would go about getting the language bar up and being able to change it from English to Japane within the seamless application. I just tried it within Word on our Japanese citrix server and couldnt see where to change it.
Thanks again

These articles describe turning off the language bar for seamless applications but the reverse is true. By default the seamless application should try to use the language set on the terminal (Japanese) and therefore launch the language bar with the IME so users can switch between both. One the user profile has a non-US keyboard you will see the language bar,
