Issues:
1st – Is it possible to create a custom based image. As in using the XPE
tools to create an image specifically created for the V90 units.2nd – I noticed that DirectX components have been stripped from the XPE
units in the v90’s and so on. Is it possible to re-install them, I tried
but it doesn’t install the required components, keeps failing.3rd – This question is kind of weird. I would like to know if anyone knows
of any tools that can show what files were used for a particular
application in an XP machine. Such as what component helped to play that
sound. I would like to know what helped and also would like to be able to
run a full diagnostic against the WIN XP system and a freshly imaged XPE
system.Any advice would be extremely helpful.
P.S. Just remembered, with the new write filter that has been introduced,
you know longer can no longer do write filter changes on the fly, is there
a way to re-instate the old one or is there no other way.May 6, 2008 at 7:26 am #12895Hi,
1st – yes, you can do your own custom image based on the original default Wyse one. Just modify it in the way you like and then use Wyse Device Manager to extract it. Now you can push it to hundreds of other units.
2nd – Some components install just fine, other don’t. In latter case you would need a custom image from Wyse (chargeable) or a lot of patience to find the way to install, missing files, missing regkeys, etc… Some packages already exist on Wyse.com. I have a DirectX 9c package.
3rd – For things like that I am using tool like Process Explorer, File Monitor, RegMon, ….
4th – New images have the new WF. There is no way to do a “Flush Cache” anymore. I am missing that feature myself a lot. No way to reimplement the old WF.

CGI dont use any of that stuff. I used a floppy to change BIOS and a USB memory stick to install XPe, both of these came from this site. Any way to use USB stick to extract custom image to use as a backup or to push to other units. Like a GHOST backup program on a USB stick?
On a S90L you can install larger RAM and FLASH than ORIG unit had so how does any push program or USB stick handle the extra space?
May 18, 2008 at 9:49 pm #12992Hi,
You will have to use Wyse Simple Imager to “Pull” the image however if you are familiar with the use of ghost this will be way easier. The trick is to only ghost of the second partition not the entire disk,
Cheers,
