    Hi!

I ditched the old PC’s with Citrix clients on them and installed Wyse S10 on two of my remote sites. Since that day the network traffic increased considerably. We utilise over 90% of the line now and the users complain about the slow speed.

The S10 machines get IP address from a DHCP server over the WAN. They also get wnos.ini via FTP over the WAN. But when that is done shouldn’t they be “quiet” then?

I also noticed that the DHCP request takes some time to process.

Perhaps I could do a test without DHCP and FTP and see how that would work.

The recommendation from the network team was to upgrade the line speed.

Is there someone here that could explain to me what is going on. I went to the sites with the intention to give the users a better experience. But it got worse than before.

    Thank you for any input.
    Regards, Kjell

    Hi,

You are correct in that one they have an IP and read the wnos.ini (only a few KB) that’s it except for ICA traffic.

Where do you get the utilisation stats from? Is it definitely bandwidth? Also what settings do you have in the wnos.ini file,

    Cheers,
    -TT

We get the utilisation stats from the network analyst at T-Systems. Below is the wnos.ini file that I use.

    hey

i have a similar problem. I used a few programs to analyze where the network traffic was coming from. From my experience and my current situation the huge amount network traffic lies between the wyse unit and the VDI, but having said that, my VDI’s are stored at a central point in the network while the wyse unit are deployed nationally. I know this seems quite obvious, but i still dont understand why it’s such a huge amount of traffic. Good luck dude

Sounds like a silly questions in this context but are you using original Wyse keyboard and mouse with the S10?

No we don’t use the original keyboard and mouse. I bought the Wyse terminals from another company and I couldn’t get hold of the original. So I bought some other brand.

I’ve heard this issue before and in that case it was really related to a non Wyse mouse.
If you have the chance then contact Wyse and ask for a demo unit to test. eg S10 (any other unit will do, as WTOS units are sometimes rare for testing). This unit will be send to you for free testing including keyboard and mouse.
This way you can test it.

Thank you for your input. I will do a test with original keyboard and mouse.
