I think I killed an S90… but not completely

I flashed the S90 with an image that worked on another S90 using PXE

I used the same image using the USB boot and flash method, coz we are testing a method that doest involve the network.

Now the S90 is unable to find a Bootable OS and wont boot using the PXE method. I can Boot onto a USB floppy drive and log it onto the network…

I would love some advice on how to get this back up and working again?

    Hi,

No problem, its just the OS that’s missing. Load it again from the USB key or enter the BIOS and set PXE first in the boot order and it will boot from the network again and you can use WSI to flash it.

Its only when you corrupt the BIOS and the terminal will not power on and has an orange light that you are in big trouble 🙂

In that case its pull the EPROM and have a Wyse service center re-program it with the BIOS again,

    Cheers,

Not quite sure what you mean – it does not show the command line screen on boot?

Or do you mean it loads the PXE screen but will not boot from WSM/WSI?

Yes it loads the PXE screen, but will not boot from WSM/WSI, it shows offline in the WSM.

is there a base image I can put on the S90 .. then I can try again?

OK, the unit is fine so you have no problem.

Sorry, I made a mistake before its “WDM” I meant to say. So, download a factory S90 image from wyse.com. Import it into WDM and then push the image to the off-line S90. Finally go to the scheduled job in WDM right click and select roll to boot.

Now start the S90, it should image. You could also load the wyse factory image on the USB key and try it that way again,

    Cheers,

Can I get you to confirm which image I can download ?… theres as lot of files in the download area.. and I dont want to get the wrong one

    I’ve looked in

    http://www.wyse.com/serviceandsupport/support/dlOraFW.asp?which=59&model=S90(Windows%20XPe)

and I was going to download the “9S92_S545_512.exe” will that do the trick?

    Hi,

if your S90 has 512MB of flash then this image is absolutely correct.
If it has “only” 256MB of flash then you have to use 9S92_S496_256.exe (if you want an english GUI).
