Hi,
I was hoping you could help me out with a query regarding the firmware files.
I’ve got a bunch of C10’s across several sites and I noticed one site was on a horribly old FW version that didn’t work with our upgraded Citrix environment. I decided to initially just copy the files from the other sites FTP folder to the French one and restarted a C10, changing the wnos file to autoload= 2.
The other sites had the two wnos files from here (8.0-152 – c10_wnos_2 & 8.3_109 as ca0_wnos) so I’m guessing my predecessor must of visited here.
The thin client updated to 8.3 but when running citrix connections it gives an error exec ica: no such file or directory.
I’m thinking I need to roll the firmware back to 8.0.152 as I’ve read I probably should of done that originally before goiing to newer versions. I tried this by just leaving the C10_wnos_2 file in the ftp root and changing the wnos to AutoLoad=1 VerifySignature=no but it won’t go back to it
Failing that, if I have to accept this TC is knackered do I just leave that 8.0.152 file in the ftp root as is or do I have to rename it for the other clients to upgrade to that version? I can then to a further upgrade once they are all done
Thanks for any help, I’m tearing my hair out over this
Dave
July 7, 2020 at 12:27 pm #52513You would have to place the 8.0_512 file in your wnos folder and wait until every client is updated. Then replace the with 8.3 firmware and again update the clients.

July 7, 2020 at 2:29 pm #52517Thanks,
I thought it was something like that from reading as much as I could but sometimes it is nice to get expert advice to confirm. I’m guessing the fact I upgraded my test Thin Client straight up to 8.3 has caused issues with that one, hence the ICA error.
No better way to learn about something than when things go wrong 🙂
July 7, 2020 at 2:42 pm #52518You are correct. The ICA error is a result of the upgrade.

September 28, 2020 at 11:45 pm #53161Dell has released 9.x Firmware for 3040 thinOS and not with PcoIp. Is there any way we can apply 9.x firmware for the client with PcoIP by converting them with normal thinOS client.
October 1, 2020 at 12:41 pm #53174ThinOS 9 is currently not available with PCoIP.
Beta for 9.1 has just started. The release of 9.1 will include PCoIP along with RDP, Blast, and others. The planned release date is December this year.CG
December 16, 2020 at 9:06 am #53835Hello,
I manage Wyse 3040 thin clients with ThinOS 8.4_105 that we use for manual RDP Connections to Windows Server (mostly 2012R2).
I want to be able to manage these in WMS and can enroll them but because of the old firmware I cannot take advantage of the full range the features and also because of safety I want to update these but have problems.
I was able to go from 8.4_105 to 8.5_009 after much trial and error and then from 8.5_009 to 8.5_020 but cannot go any further and I have tried all version with a higher version number (8.5_024, 8.6_013 all the way to 8.6_511).
I always get the “Invalid File Format” error.
What am I doing wrong? How do I get them to a 8.6 version?

December 16, 2020 at 10:06 am #53837How did you try to update the clients?
Do you use ThinOS with or without PCoIP?CG
December 16, 2020 at 12:55 pm #53851I used WMS 3.1, upload to Inventory and set as policy for the clients.
We use ThinOS without PCoIP.

December 21, 2020 at 11:37 am #53872Sorry to be picky. Can you describe the exact steps of uploading the A10Q_wnos file to the inventory?
Can you also post a screenshot of the inventory and the policy?CG
December 21, 2020 at 1:57 pm #53897Hello,
In WMS I select “Apps & Data” then under OS Image Repository I select “ThinOS”. Here I use “Add Firmware File” to upload a new A10Q_wnos file to the WMS server. After completion the file is added to the repository.
Then I set the policy in “Groups and Configs”, ThinOS policy, Firmware Upgrade, and for platform 3040 I select one the uploaded newer versions, select to allow Live Upgrade and set the policy.
After a little while the ThinClient gets a query and starts to download and check the file.
For some versions this works (8.4_105 to 8.5_009 and 8.5_009 to 8.5_020) but the other I get the “Invalid File Format” error.
In the Thin client log I get:
WMS agent is retrieving remote ThinOS image…
Checking software RAM:/A10Q_wnos-8.6_511…
Then the error.

December 22, 2020 at 4:40 pm #53911That sounds correct.
– Are you using English GUI on the clients? If not, can you try?
– How do you download the original A10Q_wnos file? Which browser?
– How do you unzip the downloaded firmware?CG
December 23, 2020 at 10:32 am #53923Hello,
I went to re-download the firmware just to make sure of the procedure and saw that a new version as been added (8.6_606) and downloaded this and this one worked (from 8.5_020)!
I use English GUI and I download and use Chrome browser for upload to WMS.
I have used both 7zip and Windows zip function to extract the file.
Thanks for your help!
December 23, 2020 at 11:03 am #53924Very strange but glad everything works now for you.
