Has anyone had any success with getting the 7.1 beta firmware working for a Citrix XenApp farm? I cannot get past the login screen. Does not appear to allow me to login via the web interface site I have configured.
I’ve posted on the beta site but have had no response.
Thanks.23. August 2011 at 9:32 #20929tarasovMember

Didn’t try XenApp but XD is OK23. August 2011 at 13:35 #20931
I only tested it on our C10LE and it works fine, just some minor issue’s but i hope it will be fixed at the release.24. August 2011 at 0:34 #20933
That will have to do for now just to test performance.
We have the C10LE’s also. Did you see any performance improvement with the new FW? Especially around flash?
Thanks.24. August 2011 at 8:21 #20934
I got the new firmware for some other problems we are facing right now, but i can test some youtube movies or other online flash stuff/games and will report when i have some spare time.24. August 2011 at 8:25 #20935
If you get a chance that would be much appreciated! As a test, play the video on the adobe flash homepage http://www.adobe.com/products/flash.html (sesame street one).
What are the other problems you are experiencing?25. August 2011 at 8:26 #20939
Well our problems at the moment is the you are not able to resize your XenApp session onces you have enabled dual head, but if you don’t have dual head enabled you are able to resize your XenApp session.
We use this option to debug stuff, like having the XenApp (desktop) session running and watching the wyse device CPU uses. And we use this for some other work related stuff.
Also your Connection Manager switch from screen to screen depends where your mouse is, yes i know it’s just stupid it should stay on screen 1 but if your mouse is on screen 2 the Connection Manager popups over there …… just lol
Anyway i have tested the new firmware 7.1 using a C10 and R10L and both can play the flash movie fine, sound is not buggy or out of sync. Only the R10L has a lower CPU use when playing the flash movie.
Test has been done with XenApp 5 R7 (desktop session) on Win2k3 SP2, with a resolution off 1280×1024 16bit color and Wyse TCX suite 4.1 was also installed on the server.29. August 2011 at 11:11 #20947
Thanks! Appreciate the testing.
We have the same Citrix setup. Xenapp 5 on W2K3. I assume you were testing on LAN?
If I play that flash video on my PC locally there is a much greater depth of sound. It’s all in sync and appears to play very smoothly. If I run from a published desktop on the XenApp 5 farm on C10L the sound is much more basic. It’s clear enough but lacks range or depth. That’s fine. But the video is a little choppy. It appears to be in sync but there are is a drop in the frame rate. I see that you say you use the TCX suite. I wonder if that is making a difference to the quality of the playback?
I have not experienced the resize issue with the dual head but that being said we would only run in full window anyway.2. September 2011 at 12:31 #20953ConfGenKeymaster

TCX does not make any difference in this testing as TCX Flash is not used in a XA environment like yours.
But it is obvious that that the flash performance is better with a PC. Citrix is using Flash Redirection and that needs a locally installed Adobe Flash Player.
WTOS does not have a local flash player and therefore no redirection takes places. Only a flash acceleration is done which is not as pretty as a full redirection.

I tested TCX Flash on our XenApp 5 farm using a C10L with WTOS.
The flash playback is alot less choppy but the picture quality is a lot granier and more course. So it is much more in sync and better framerate but at the expense of a poorer picture quality.19. September 2011 at 16:38 #21071jamesjhughesParticipant

Hi all. Can someone on a 7.1 beta build test something for me?
When on 7.1, if we use a Citrix Published IE (v6 – don’t ask!) and visit http://www.gftu.org after about 2 minutes the session will disconnect. In the event log of the client I then see “ICA: read error 0 from ica_frame_recv”. Just wondering if other people get the same error.

Hi, running IE v8 published app on XenApp 5 (Win2003). Site has been up for over 5 minutes without crashing.
Sorry i don’t have a server with IE6 available.20. September 2011 at 7:29 #21079
I don’t have IE6 on our Citrix environment, but we have also no problems with IE8.21. September 2011 at 20:59 #21086jamesjhughesParticipant
