I just got a V30 to use the dual display support. However, RDP sessions will only span both displays at 800X600. So if each display is set to 800X600 it works ok. If each display is set higher, than I get a smaller RDP session centered across both displays. Am I doing something wrong or is 800X600 the highest resolution i can do?
20. September 2007 at 12:10 #10246Hi Mike,
There are some real limits with the RDP 5 client that ships with CE5. Microsoft have an RDP 6 client but at this stage are not porting it to the CE5 platform. ICA will span OK however as you have found out RDP has a limit to the resolution.
For a better spanned solution look at a V50L or V10L, the RDESKTOP client does not have the limits of the RDP5 client,
Cheers,

21. January 2008 at 16:26 #11411After a lot of reading, I found out that thin client with 2 monitors is not the same as with a normal pc.
Have to learn to live with it I guess.
My question;
We have a Wyse V30L. To use 2 monitors we have to make 2 RDP sessions to our server. But when I maximize the windows of those sessions they both jump to the left monitor (main monitor).
Is it possible to get 1 session to the left screen (maximized) and the other to the right monitor (also maximized)?

Wyse has created a software called TCX Multimonitor which is doing exact this for you. But (and there is always a but), this is installed on the Terminal Server. In your special case with 2 RDP session this will not work as the sessions are seperate from each other. Using one session spanned to two monitors, it will work for all applications started inside this one session. Same with Citrix ICA.
You would need a local install of this application and this is not available currently.CG
22. January 2008 at 8:57 #11415With spanned to 2 monitors you mean the user has to work at 800 x 600 pixels. This is no option for us. When we bought the wyse V30L I thought it would be possible to start 1 RDP session to our terminal server en use the 2 monitors like on a normal PC in that RDP session.
22. January 2008 at 9:29 #11416But even a normal PC would not be able to show a higher resolution. Only if you are using RDP 6 you can do more and this is not available for CE5. It will be available soon with CE6.

22. January 2008 at 9:43 #11417ConfGen; I don’t want to span… I want to extend my desktop within the terminal session.
But I’ve read before that this is only possible in RDP 6.0
Then I’ll just have to wait for wyse to release CE 6.0
22. January 2008 at 10:07 #11418Extending the display is possible today also.
Go to Control Panel and change Desktop to “Use new Desktop”, reboot and enter CP again. Now you can extend your desktop using the Display applet.CG
22. January 2008 at 10:17 #11419Indeed, but only within CE. Not in the RDP session. Or do I have to do some settings on my terminal servers?
22. January 2008 at 12:35 #11421Sure you can do this inside RDP also.
Create a new RDP connection. On the tab where you adjust the resolution you can find the checkbox to enable “Enable spanning across monitors”.
I have it running this way with a resolution of 800×600 each (so a 1600×600 in addition)Regards
