Hi All,
Two weeks ago i received two V50L’s. Great machines, downloaded the DMonitor Pack. With RDP and ICA dual-monitor works perfectly. But not with XDMCP (Xserver) variant. That’s a pitty that was the reason i bought them.
I’ve already contacted Wyse Support and they have added to some wishlist. My question is: has someone got it working with somekind of a workaround? (I’ve been trying also some thing but the session crashes)
Kind regards,
Gerjan

XDMCP has an issue with the screen size, try using Xnest, its windowed but you can move it around the screens,

-TT23. April 2007 at 7:06 #9500Hello thinkthin,
The problem is that I Can’t use Xnest for a several reasons:
– my client demands a dual-video (fullscreen) RDP-session
– with above settings it is not possible to switch to the Xnest session
– they also demand a dual-video X-session (which Xnest also doesn’t provide)It’s bit a pitty that Wyse sells the Linux thin-clients and that only the applications to windows services are dual video capable…

23. April 2007 at 12:12 #9503Hi Gerjan,
You are completely correct, for some reason you can only launch one X-Windows Session at a time. No idea why but it really should be a requirement – I will see if I can beat up someone at Wyse for you.
I tried Xnest/XDMCP and RDP and they switched fine but I only had one monitor to test with – 🙁
If I hear anything I will post back!

-TT23. April 2007 at 21:19 #9508Hi,
Just an update…
I tried a XNEST with a full screen RDP and using the ctrl-atl-arrow down key I could switch between both sessions. Also I tried XNEST to 2 different hosts and it works (but not 2 sessions to the same host)
I did not try setting the desktop to span mode and streach the XNEST session accross both monitors.
There is work being done to get XDMCP to span both screens right now so it should work soon. Can you test Xnest again with RDP? Also test with the desktop set to span both screens,
Cheers,

That works indeed. But one reason for us why we don’t choose for Xnest is that it doesn’t run “real” full screen like an rdp session. You keep seeing the Wyse start-menu. That’s anonying for our clients.

I choose full screen mode for Xnest and it is not able to span accros both monitors. The resolution in a Xnest environment tries to be the size you gave but gets limit by the wyse-start menu. So the screen size “does not match”.

Conclusion:
-It’s possible to switch between a Xnest and RDP session with control-alt-arrow down key.
-The RDP-session works fine with spanmode
-The Xnest-session doesn’t work in spanmode
-You can’t swtich from a Xserver session to RDP (with control-alt-arrow down key) but it works with control alt F1 (the normal linux mode)I hope spanmode works soon with XDMCP (Xnest and the preffered method Xserver)
Thank you for your time!

12. December 2007 at 20:07 #11019Hello,
I had a solution, there was a dual-monitor XDMCP-package. But with the new firmware 6.3.2 it isn’t possible to save anything…
Can someone help me?
13. December 2007 at 15:13 #11028Which XDMCP package did you use?
2. January 2008 at 18:18 #11185I’m also looking for a solution for this. I have two monitors hooked to a V50LE. With Wyse’s help I was able to install the DMONITOR add-on.
The startup screen and config menus use both monitors now. I can open two RDP/XDMCP sessions, one on each monitor.. but what I really want is to have a dual monitor XDMCP session.
3. January 2008 at 9:21 #11193Try this addon. This is supporting XNEST in Dualscreen.

This package was the one I tried…. (already received it via thinkthin a while ago)

The Problem is that in the new 6.3.2-52 version the system.conf is been saved on several locations. And the dualmonitor= parameter isn’t recognized .

12. February 2008 at 9:39 #11681Hi,
What version of the Dmonitor addon are you using? I think there is a new version that works with 6.3.2 build 52 firmware.
Cheers,
-TT15. February 2008 at 9:14 #11724Gerjan,
the latest Dmonitor addon is version 3.9. This should work perfectly with 6.3.2-52 and -53.
You can download it here
http://www.wyse.com/serviceandsupport/support/dlOraFW.asp?which=76&model=V50L%20/%20V50LE(Wyse%20Linux)CG
25. February 2008 at 6:35 #11865The problem is not that DMonitor doesnt enable the DualMonitor function. But that the Xnest-session can’t save. If i create a connection it works well, if i reboot the terminal the session is disappeared
